We purchased a timeshare at Oak Plantation in 1999.  At that time, it was really nice.  Since we are a military family, we didn't the chance to stay at the resort often but we did exchange thru RCI a few times with other resorts and other locations.

We stayed there in 2005 with no problems.  We attended another presentation.  Oh my goodness.  The salesman was so rude and nasty to us because we refused to buy another timeshare at the resort.  We told him we couldn't afford another timeshare and he insisted we could.  My temper got the best of me and I cussed this man out!  After we were released, I complained to management but to no avail.

Fast forward to 2008.  We were attending a family reunion and made reservations to at OP.  We go there about 2 am.  We specifically asked for a no smoking unit but when we got to the room, it smelled like 100 ashtrays. I asked why we were not put in one the newly renovated units.  The rude clerk says, "those rooms are not for you"!   We went to the desk to request a new room.  The clerk was very rude.  She sends a maintenance gut to the room with some machine to get the odor out.  Well the machine caught fire. We were put in a different unit, but not a renovated one.

I received a call from a OP rep stating he needed to speak to my husband and me together asap.  I asked why.  He briefly stated that RCI had downgraded OP status from Gold Crown to Standard.  So now Interval International is the trading company.  I cannot wait to hear the sales pitch that's coming Sunday when we talk to sales rep.  He wouldn't give much info but insisted we be together when he calls Sunday.

I will report back here after the conversation Sunday.

OP Lost it's standing with RCI

AUTHOR: Apollo2012 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, March 26, 2012

OK.  Here's the deal.

I just got off the phone with a rep from OP.  I was told that OP lost it's standing with RCI, the timeshare trading company.  RCI is on a points system.  Since OP is a weeks based resort, RCI suspended them from their inventory.  The rep tells me that for a small fee, they can convert my floating week into a points based system, promising me all these wonderful things (an extra week for free, more exchange power).  I kindly told him that Oak Plantation gets enough of my money already in maintenance fees and that I will stick with my floating week.  I did not ask how much the fee is but I researched online.  There are some resorts charging up to $8000 to convert from weeks to points.

If you get this call, you can decline it.  It will not effect your exchange power with Interval International.
