On Jan. 16, 2003 we received notice from Ocwen Federal Bank that our loan had been paid off with a returned check for that months payment attached. I called them 4 times on this day to let them know that there had been a mistake and that our loan shouldn't have been paid off by anyone. We had signed no papers, never had a closing, nothing. We were insistantly told that it was. Therefore, on my last call, I asked for a copy of the payoff check.

On the 24th, I called Ocwen, having to explain the entire thing over once again. It's never the same person, ever and they "must" be told of the situation over and over and over. I requested a copy of the check one more time.
On the 28th, another call. I was told then that our loan was in their research department-being investigated.
On the 31st, another call, The copy of the check was on it's way. Was also told that their investagation turned out okay and that according to them, our loan was still paid off.

Feb. 1, 2003, received the check. Upon receiving said check, I called Chicago Title in CO. They in turn told me to call Chicago Title in IL. from where the check was issued. I did. From there I was to call Ocwen and ask them to check their respa papers. I did that. Then was told by Ocwen to order a copy of my credit report.
I made several more calls between the 6th of Feb. and the 26th.

On the 28th, we made an appointment with an attorney. He suggested that as soon as we get everything straightened out, we really should consider refinancing with someone else. No kidding!

On the 3rd of March, I made another call to Ocwen. They are insistant that this mistake was caused by Chicago Title in IL. Chicago Title is saying "oh no, it's not us. It has to be Ocwen's mistake" Around and around we go.

However, was told on this call that we should make our March payment anyway. I couldn't help but ask why we should make any payment to them at all considering that I was told that if make a payment, they will send it back because they do not have our loan. I mentioned that I would rather wait until we were notified in writing that everything was back to where it should be.

That afternoon, I received a call from an Ocwen supervisor, he wanted to know exactly what happened and what I wanted him to do concerning our loan. What???

He was going to find out if the check that they received was liget and find out where the mistake originated from.

He was to have called me back the following day. NO Call. I did call Ocwen and left a message.

As well, as on the 5th, twice.

On the 5th, I made two calls. Each person telling me that our loan was in reversal and that we could easily make payments by phone or website for a 10.00 fee. Sure thing!

I had been in constant contact with our attorney and was told to wait and see what information that they send to me.

On the 6th, I was told by Ocwen that our loan had not been reversed and that according to them, our loan was paid off.

I then spoke to another supervisor, and she told me that it was their own payroll department that began this ball rolling. They made the mistake. Was told not to worry about fees, payments, etc.

If I don't hear from her by the afternoon of the 7th, to call her on the morning of the 10th.

On the afternoon of the 8th, we received a collection notice.

On the 10th, I left 5 messages for this supervisor. No return call.

However, my daughter did receive a call. After a long verbal battle in which this supervisor was telling her that we were at fault for not paying our loan, and that we were lucky that we didn't have to pay late fees, attorney fees, and suffer bad credit ratings, she finally succeeded within the hour to have all corrected information faxed to her.

In these previous two months of dealing with these people (Ocwen) I have finally realized the worst traits a person can have.

Incompetence, stupidity, and arrogance. Ocwen can be sure of one thing.

As soon as possible, we shall no longer be associated with them in any way.

It's such a relief to be out from under Ocwen's thumb

AUTHOR: Cristine - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 16, 2003

As of May 12, 2003, we no longer have our mortgage serviced through Ocwen Federal Bank FSB.

Our most sincere thanks go out to our attorney, Brenda at Security Title, and Elaine at Cherry Creek Mortgage. Without their efforts, my daughter and I would still be trying to deal with the incompetence of those employed by Ocwen. There is one thing that we made certain of even before our closing date, that Ocwen was NOT included in their list of those that would service our account in the future.

It's such a relief to be out from under Ocwen's thumb!
