Since March we have had 10 service calls for our AC on our home owner warranty policy. After the third fix, they contractor deemed our AC not fixable, and the company said they would replace it. Two days later we got a call from Old Republic, and they informed us that they would try to fix it after all. Well, I write this after today's 10th service call since March  15 2010 and today's contractor arrived one day and a half late, then when my husband went in the house to use the phone, he drove away without fixing anything. Now we are sitting on hold with the company again trying to get it fixed. They tell us how sorry they are we are having this trouble and someone will be coming out to fix it right away. (These "right aways" translate to several days each time.) (Service call number 8 resulted in a fire in the unit and put smoke in our house when our daughter was home alone.) Service call 9 the repair lasted 16 hours. We live in Florida and our daily temperatures have been in the high nineties with no AC for the better part of two weeks. All of our things and our house are in jeopardy of mold setting in soon if we don't get some resolution. At this point, it will be a miracle if it's ever fixed by this rip-off company.

STOP WHINING AND GET BACK AT OLD REPUBLIC!

AUTHOR: VH, Plano, TX - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 21, 2010

Yes, I have a complaint, but O.R. doesnt read these posts and neither does any government agency; i.e. people that can do something about O.R.s foul business practices.

ARE YOU READY TO DO SOMETHING!&nbspStart taking notes.&nbspThere is no statute of limitations, do not let them get away with taking our money!

Here are just some of your options:

1)Sue them in small claims court

2)Sue them in court under DTPA (Deceptive Trade Practices Act)

3)File a complaint with the BBB

4)File a complaint with your states Attorney Generals office

5)File a complaint with your states Department of Insurance

6)File a complaint with your credit card company; if you paid O.R. with a credit card

If you really want to do something about O.R. screwing you over, then do something! They are laughing at you for doing nothing more than venting on some random website.

Any legal paperwork must be sent to O.R.s Registered Agent. This is different in each state, because O.R. is small and only operates out of CA. They pay a firm to represent them in other states; i.e. a Registered Agent. To find out who this is in your state, go to your states Comptroller website and do a free corporate search. Here it is for Texas:

https://ourcpa.cpa.state.tx.us/coa/servlet/cpa.app.coa.CoaGetTp?Pg=tpid&Search_Nm=old%20republic%20&Button=search&Search_ID=32000563547

1)Sue them in small claims court

The purpose of small claims court is to provide an informal, uncomplicated proceeding to resolve small disputes that do not involve enough money to warrant the expense of formal litigation. Most people who appear in small claims court do not have a lawyer but represent themselves. In small claims court, the amount you seek to recover cannot exceed $10,000. Go to your countys Justice of the Peace website. In Collin County (Texas) details can be found here:http://www.co.collin.tx.us/justices_peace/civil.jsp#4 The cost for filing in Collin County is only $31 !

2)Sue them in court under DTPA (Deceptive Trade Practices Act)

Go here for details:http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=78429097207&topic=10093

3)File a complaint with the BBB

Here is their review on the Better Business Bureau website.http://www.bbb.org/greater-san-francisco/business-reviews/home-warranty-plans/old-republic-home-protection-company-in-san-ramon-ca-15742

Go here to file a complaint with the BBB - https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/getstarted.aspx

Before filing the complaint, write it out first. You can then use the same complaint for each website.

4)File a complaint with your states Attorney Generals office

For the great state of TX:https://www.oag.state.tx.us/consumer/complain.shtml

5)File a complaint with your states Department of Insurance

For the great state of TX:http://www.tdi.state.tx.us/consumer/complfrm.html

Here are some contacts in O.R., but unless you start an email campaign, you already know they dont care
