Old Republic Home Protection Company, Inc. Not Honoring Our Policy San Ramon California

We recently purchased our first home in October 2008. We purchased a home protection policy on the advise of our realtor. We spent $350.00 on the policy.

I placed a work order online (which they say they prefer on their paperwork) December 1, 2008 to repair a leaky dishwasher and got an instant response that someone will be calling to set up an appt. After waiting over 24 hours for a response I decided to simply place a call for the service appt ( in hopes of actually speaking with someone). I placed the call, told Old Republic I never got a response from my online inquiry. The rep told me she would place a call to the repair company herself.

Within approx 60 minutes a lady from the repair shop called me to set up my appt for 4 days out. The repair man came out, told me he had to order parts and he would be back as soon as they came in.

After three weeks of hearing nothing, my husband decided to call Old Republic directly to find out what was going on with our service call. That was a Friday morning. The lady, Carol, assured my husband she would call him back to let him know the status. Well, it has been nine days now and still no response from Carol at Old Republic or the repair man. I have been waiting over one month now for any type of repair on my dishwasher for which I had to pay a $55.00 a service fee.

Old Republic seems to have no problem selling home protection plans, and cashing your check, but when their customers actually need service, they are NOT there for you. Now I am out $350 for the plan, plus $55 for service call, and still have a leaky dishwasher!!
Please do your homework before buying any type of home protection plan! Ask around first! I certainly will be telling our real estate agent NOT to recommend them any longer as well as family members in the real estate business.

I will be posting warnings on all websites that have to do with consumers and their rights, as well as the BBB. I am going to be sending Old Republic Home Protection Company, Inc. a hard copy of this complaint directly to them.

I will be posting the outcome on this website as well to tell you all what has taken place.
