OmniPresent Magazine contacted me in 2005 about purchasing magazines. They offered 3 magazines for the price of one, which seemed like a good deal.

I asked what would happen if I wanted to cancel. The girl on the phone said something to the effect of "why would you want to do that to my company? You say you want the magazines, but now you're talking about cancelling." I explained that I might want to cancel at some point and pushed the issue. The girl finally said that I could cancel any time, and only needed to call to do so. So, I talked with a supervisor, who verified my credit card info.

Three months later, I had not received any magazines, and had made 2 payments to OmniPresent. I was laid off of my job and notified OmniPresent that I wanted to cancel service because I could not afford to pay for this service. The supervisor I spoke with said that I could not cancel, because I had a contract for 2 years! I told him I would not be paying anything more, and had not signed any contract.

Since then, OmniPresent has sent me into collections and has lawyers threatening to sue me. This has been a horrible nightmare. They are runining my credit. I never received any magazines, but they want me to pay $500.

This company is a HUGE RIPOFF!

Save yourself a whole lot of trouble and don't do business with them!

#3 Consumer Suggestion

See if it's really a lawyer

AUTHOR: Aadb - (U.S.A.)

I am too having issues with this company and have filed a report. After hours of researching some things I found were interesting. Though they tell you they are lawyers they may not be at all. This is indeed illegal and you should tell them so. It's not hard to make a fake letterhead to attach. If you have the lawyer's firm name and address look them up their are many online directories. It is unfortunate that companies that operate like theirs are in business.
