EVERYTIME it rains, even just a little, our whole block has no electric service, but just across the street from my driveway their electric is on and never has an issue, again while my block is out! In the last 5-6 times it has rained it has ALWAYS gone out. I call Oncor-they are my service provider for TXU-and I have to go through the automated outage reporting
system--which also asks for the same info repeatedly and now it seems I have to give my name also even after giving my phone number and address and then it states that they don't recognize my number (2nd time given) and then tells me "goodbye" and hangs up!!! On the evening of 10/2/11 at about 8PM our electric went out and did not come back on until the next morning at about 7:30 AM--almost 12 hours. No one could tell me when the service would be restored or
when someone was scheduled to come out and repair the issue. Well, apparently, they did not do anything different because on the evening of 10/8/11 at about 10:30 PM it went out AGAIN! And of course the homes across the street from my driveway--NO PROBLEM! I actually told my wife I should start calling them when it just started to sprinkle and sure enough not even three minutes later the electric goes out AND of course the homes across the street NO PROBLEM!!!! So again I call and blah blah blah!!!!!! Same story different day! Finally getting to speak to a real person and told them that they need to get an engineer on this issue because just doing what they have done before is NOT working. So, the electric comes back on an hour later for an hour or so and then goes out AGAIN!! They tell me to call to get a "power quality test". I will not call because I feel that it is THEIR job not mine to get that in motion--especially since the issue ALWAYS comes up EVERYTIME it rains. I am at the point that now I will start posting complaints on every blog--may even create one--that the service from Oncor is terrible. Changing the "fuse" does NOT work and it's their responsibility to test the system PERIOD!!! I have also had to throw food out after not having service for 12 hours. We in Texas pay some of the highest rates for electric
in the country and I will NOT do their job to request testing of THEIR system--they are the SERVICE PROVIDER or maybe they are NOT! I expect them to reduce my next bill and reimburse me for the food that spoiled--$100.00 dollars will suffice for the food and $200.00 will suffice for the bill reduction. I also requested a written report on the results of the outage repair from the night of 10/8/11 outage---I will follow up with BBB when and IF I get the report.

that provides power and open the power generation and distribution to the free market. Their argument is a free market promotes lower prices and better service.

I have seen an increasing number of complaints against the "independent" free market power providers in Texas.  The complaints include poor service, price gouging and general dis-interest in their customers.

Sorry you're having trouble with yours.

If you haven't been logging all the service problems you had, you should and then send a copy to your Public Utilities Commision or its equivalent.

Good luck, it's frustrating being without power.
