I contacted several credit card companies online - I received the information in the mail from Orchard and another from HSBC - I contacted about activation - was told they were unable to complete application and needed additional information to verify identity. I told them I did not want to send my personal information and to please cancel the application(s) because I was going with another credit card company. I then was told that in order for them to cancel the applications / cards I had to send in copies of my driver's license - social security card front and back - copies of all the statements and letters received. I did this and enclosed a letter of request to cancel all applications / cards.
Then I started receiving statements charging me for the accounts. I called again was told that there was a cross in the mail and that the accounts had been closed. I requested statements showing zero balance, confirmation numbers and letters of the cancelations being received and accepted from HSBC and Orchard Bank. I received a statement stating zero balance for one of the HSBC acct. Only to receive another showing negative/ late fees. Orchard how ever is requesting more additional information on me - they have requested copies of my vehicle registration and my vehicle insurance information.
I called Orchard Bank again to dispute - I requested to speak with a supervisor and was told one was not available. I called several times with in the same hour and was transferred numerous times to several different people and still unable to speak with a supervisor. I called again and requested copies of account application, agreement, and all the history to this account. I was told they were unable to give me this information. So I called back again. I asked if this call was being recorded they stated "yes", I said my information in to the phone and said the time of the call and made another request for the above information.
I was told they would submit a request to cancel but that I would still have to pay the balance due. Whether it was canceled or not because when I inquired online it was automatically activated... I have numerous letters stating they need more info to activate the acct. So how do I have a balance if the card was never activated??

To those of you who filed rebuttals against the original poster. If you apply online for an Orchard Bank card and anything you enter does not match up with your credit report (name, correct address, SS#), they will require additional information to be sent in to prevent identity theft. That is probably what happened with the OP.
This happens a lot with people who have not applied for credit since their last move. The address on the credit report file will not match with the address they used to apply for credit. Therefore, additional info must be sent in to verify it's really that person.
I'm glad "M" got this squared away and Orchard Bank did the right thing. I have been with them for 4 years and have had no problems.

Today - I received a statement informing me that HSBC and Orchard Bank have closed the application/account and made all appropriate adjustments to a $0.00 balance.
I am pleased that this matter is resolved.
To the gentleman in Florida. This matter is/was very true and the documentation is very real. And that is how I was able to prove my complaint and resolve this matter.
To all of you with complaints - keep calling (take notes of all who you speak with, date and time) and save all documentations because "YES" you need to provide the documented/correspondence information to "RESOLVE" the complaint.
Good luck -

Duane,
I have already filed my own report on Orchard Bank and I don't care to explain it to you again.
Don't you think the number of complaints on this website alone are some proof of exactly what kind of organization we're dealing with?
P.S. You need to check your spelling.

I haven't had an Orchard card for about 7 years, but when I did, I had no problems with them. I am not agreeing or disagreeing about their customer service. What I am disagreeing with is what your original report says. They will NOT ask for that kind of personal information to cancel and application or a card. Period. You're way off base.

I'm involved in a class action suit against them-does that answer your question?
I don't think I need to explain any more.

This report is a total lie

ANY REPUTABLE COMPANY will never ask you to send in a copy of your SSN, Driver's License, Vehicle Registration and Insurance! This is totally false! You are contradicting yourself as well.
You say that you cancelled the APPLICATION. Then you said they wanted "copies of my driver's license - social security card front and back - copies of all the statements and letters received. I did this and enclosed a letter of request to cancel all applications / cards." If you are filling out an app for a credit card, why would you have statements and letters? Makes no sense at all. Then you say you didn't want to send the personal info, but you sent it anyway. Why would a CC company ask for all that personal info to cancel an application? The answer is THEY WOULDN'T.
Again, no credit card company will ask you to send this stuff to them. Also, if you never activated the card or even received a card, then you couldn't have received a statement, because according to you, you cancelled the application.
You need to get your story and facts straight.
