I used to have AT&T cell phone service then one day, it was shut off. I called to find out why after 2 years of on-time payments why I had no service. They told me I owed over $1200 for someone's bill in Mississippi over 1500 miles away. It took months to get everything corrected and now, nearly 5 years later, I lost my house loan because they say I still have an outstanding amount of $1121.51 and reported it for the first time last month. AT&T and all of their affiliates are crooks.

Once AGAIN people, STAY OFF THE PHONE!!! NEVER speak to ANY collector on the phone!! Upon FIRST contact send a CEASE COMMUNICATIONS request as per your rights under the FDCPA. Specify that they are not to make any telephone contact with you or anyone else regarding this matter, and demand all communications be only in writing.

Send this by certified mail, return reciept requested. Be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy for yourself.

Here is some good reading compliments of budhibbs.com. Bud Says

Also known as Asta Funding, a publicly held organization worth a LOT of money. Palisades Collections, LLC is their bottom feeder entity collecting on old, worthless accounts. Their up to now good reputation, is being flushed down the toilet with the illegal activity of Palisades.

Purchasing old debts is okay, however the law is quite clear that you must accurately report information on credit bureau reports. Palisades Collections apparently is not aware of that law. The complaints we receive on them are for a lot of accounts out of statute, changing the dates of last activity on credit reports and grossly inflated accounts.

This could be construed as an attempt to inflate their portfolios to Wall Street to make them look better than they are, NOT an uncommon practice for a bottom feeder.

Palisades Collections needs to be confronted at every step with demands for debt validation. All of their tainted credit bureau reporting should be disputed; court suits MUST be vigorously defended. Challenge each and every document they file, assume they are bogus and manufactured. Palisades appears to be engaging in a lot of illegal collection activity and credit bureau reporting, they deserve to be sue at every opportunity by consumer law professionals.

Read how these greedy bottom feeders are making a fortune based on the misfortunes of others from their own website: http://www.corporate-ir.net/ireye/ir_site.zhtml?ticker=ASFI&script=700

I recommend you utilize the experts at: naca.net to go after these deep pocket icons of American enterprise. Let owners Arthur Stern, Gary Stern and Mitchell Herman know what you REALLY think of them and their dumpster diving business.

Immediately demand proof of debt and itemization of charges by the means stated above.

For the Record

AUTHOR: Tom - (U.S.A.)

Pallisade Collections is the internal collection agency of Asta Funding and is not the same as TrueLogic Financial. TFC is a third party collection agency. Asta is one of our clients, and we do collect debt for them, but are a totally seperate company.

#7 Author of original report

on Palisades

Thanks for the information- as it turns out, connecting my SS# to this other account was actually an input error on AT&T's part so I was luckily not a victim of identity theft. However, thanks to my friends at Palisades Collections, I now have to file a police report against the owner of the defaulted account to get it cleared off my credit report even though they had nothing to do with the mix-up. AT&T has called Palisades many times with me on the line to get this cleared up and Palisades won't do anything- they just say I have to press charges and then they will go after the real owner of the account. So Megan, yeah it is your company's fault I am going through this and now they are going to ruin someone else's life over a mistake corrected 5 years ago. Megan, your company and you are "real heroes" out there ruining hard-working, bill-paying peoples' lives for a few dollars. You should feel real great about working there, you complete idiot.

Hey Megan, I got an idea

AUTHOR: Dawn - (U.S.A.)

How about you go and get a real job? You know one that actually requires you to do work. ID theft is one of the top crimes in America, in some states its worst than others, for you to sit your 1.50 a** and sit and tell a person "palisades is such an honorable agency, to hell with the fact that this situation was dealt with in the past, we are collectors and you have to pay whether its your bill or not" nice work idiot. Like a previous poster we all know that Palisades is sooo honorable.
To the original poster, you should have the documentation that helped you clear this whole mess up accessible to you. I would kindly send it to the idiots at Palisades and attach a C/D letter with contact by mail only. If Palisades refuse to budge, its time to speak their language, send them a nice Intend To Sue letter, they are violating FDCPA laws and I would sue their sorry a**ses for it.

Yes, It is Pallisades Fault Megan

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 27, 2005

You moron, of course it is, the poster clearly states that this matter was taken care of 5 YEARS AGO. Now it mysteriously pops on her credit report? yes, Pallisades does do that, even thought it is against the law, and they can now be sued for damaging her credit reports, they still do it.

So get a real job and stop defending these bottom feeders you b***h.

Nice Try On The Rebuttal!

AUTHOR: S.n. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 27, 2005

What you skipped over was that Palisades is known for not working with consumers, skip tracing and coming "close to" a name to try to collect from, and reporting incorrect information to the 3 majory credit reporting agencies. To the original poster: Did you file a police report indicating that your SSN had been used fraudulently? If not, do so now and get your credit reports. You may have other accounts that are not yours being reported.
