Palisades Collection, AT&T Rip off. Credit raport says I own $284 to AT&T and I dont have clue where this account com from Englewood New Jersey

My current credit raport shows a collection account of $284 from Palisades Collection.I realy have know idea where thise account com from and why it is in collection.I was AT&T customer for a couple years,but after my contract end I sign with a nader company.
Now ,after two years wenn this hapend my credit raport says I have a collection account from Palisades Collection and they wann mi to pay $284 which I own to AT&T Wireless.This is NOT true.I don't know what to do.There is no contact info on the credit raport and I refuse to send a payment for something I know nothing about.This company is riping people off.

By the sounds of the post, it sounds like an early termination of the account. As the amount is over the $200.00 termination fee most companies charge. Have you tried calling AT&T just to see if the account was closed early? Taking a few minutes just to check that the debt is invalid would probably be worth it. You could contact Palisades (call by pay phone so that they can't track the number), and dispute the debt. They may require a written document though.
