We purchased a used "certified" car from Paragon Honda @ 57-02 Northern Blvd, Woodside, New York 11377 a few days ago.

What we thought that we were getting was a certified pre owned car at a decent price. But what we really got was scammed, headaches, a damaged car with a bad paint job, ripped off, lied to...the list goes on.

The finance manger, Joy Choudhry, worked in some additional charges in our contract, on top of the price that we had initially agreed on. He lied to us about the extended warranty telling us that it will only cost $4 extra a month, when in fact he charged us $2,300 (which is $200 over what Honda Financial allows).

The day of purchase we weren't given all of the documents such as THE CONTRACT! We returned the next day to the dealership, for the 4th time in a week to get the documents and cancel the Honda Care that we didn't even need!

After reviewing the contract and seeing all of the figures, now we understand why they did not give this to us!! They added in extra charges after agreeing on a price, which is ILLEGAL!! They wouldn't let us cancel the Honda Care there...also ...ILLEGAL and the fact that they didn't supply copies of the contract the day of the purchase, well guess what, that is ILLEGAL too!!

We brought the car to several places, damage appraiser, auto body, another Honda with competent people, something you won't find at Paragon and they all confirmed that this car had been in an accident, and has a horrible paint job. We didn't see this because when first viewing the car, it was really dirty, and the day of purchase the car was not available to view until it was dark outside, by that time we purchased it. We were told we could return the car if there were any problems.

We went back to "return" the car, they said they will only exchange it, they said they would give us an AMAZING deal that included paying several THOUSAND DOLLARS more. After placing a call to our lawyer, we were advised to leave and not continue business at the dealership and we would meet asap to discuss the next actions to be taken.

Paragon told us that they will not refund our money, even though what they sold us was not what had been promised and originally agreed on. We are in the process of ending this whole nightmare ASAP and will not stop until we have our money back.

BUYER BEWARE!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PARAGON HONDA!!!

THIS IS WHAT TO EXPECT IF YOU DO DECIDE TO GO:

-You will be offered what seems like a good deal, then unknowingly to you, additional charges will be worked in, they need to make a HUGE profit on you and scam you somehow!

-You will be lied to, cheated, scammed and realize after you make a purchase that you just made a HUGE mistake and were scammed.

-They will offer you a cookie and coffee while they operate illegally and RIP YOU OFF!

-You may be sold a potentially DANGEROUS car, since they don't abide by Honda's standards.

I hope that you take this and everyone else's bad experiences with this piece of Sh** dealership into consideration when shopping for a car. There is no such thing as a good deal at this place!!!

We feel it will be worth a try. To back up our claim, we contacted our salesman, and asked him for a copy of the Carfax. He was happy to help. On 1/2/2009, he accompanied me to the Used Car Sales Office and they printed out a copy of the Carfax and the Total Black Book Valuation, which is used to determine trade-in values. The gentleman at the counter said, That we definitely would be had gotten more money if the car had not been in an accident".

On the morning of January 7, 2009 I was reading the Arizona Republic. Curiously I looked in the classified car section and looked up what a 2007 Honda Civic like our daughters was selling for. There was an ad and the price was $15,977. I knew it could not be ours, as our car would be sold at auction. I decided to go to the website and look at it. As I thought, it was not our daughter's vehicle. However, I scrolled down the page and our daughter's car that we had traded in was there. Not only was it there, it was being sold as a HONDA CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE for $16,988.

I printed the brochure. Not only is it Certified, under the Vehicle Condition section it indicates Original Paint, No Known Accidents, No known Bodywork and more. I could not believe what I was reading. Not only that, the CarMax, states 12/31/2008, Offered for sale as a Honda Certified Used Car. Obviously, our trade-in is what we said, immaculate and well cared for". We feel that we had been violated and defrauded. How can they get away with this kind of unethical business practice? The dealer was dishonest with us and their dishonesty doesn't end with us.

I continued each morning to look on the website to see if the vehicle was still on their website. As of January 11th, 2009, the website displays Vehicle Not Found in Database". Did they sell it? Should or can we do something about it? Can we find out to whom the car was sold to? Did they realize their mistake and make things right? Should I call the General Manager? Do I file a complaint with the BBB and the FTC? Do I notify NACA? Should I contact a lawyer? Would any of the local TV stations such as; Channel 3's- On Your Side", Channel 5's- Investigations 5iTeam, Channel 12's-Call 12 for Action, Channel 10's- Investigation or ABC's 15 Investigators be interested?

READ THE PURCHASE CONTRACT, and the LOAN CONTRACT THOROUGHLY BEFORE YOU SIGN ANYTHING. Ask to take the UNSIGNED contract home for review. If they refuse-LEAVE and never return.

NEVER sign any purchase agreement or loan contract that HAS ANY BLANKS ON IT!

It's impossible for them to "sneak" in an extended warranty, etched windows, and other nonsense if you READ THE CONTRACT BEFORE SIGNING. If you are presented with a contract that has "added" costs such as these DRAW A HORIZONTAL LINE and letter "DO NOT AGREE" in the signature block and get up and WALK AWAY-don't do business with them. Don't argue, don't discuss-simply walk away and never return.

I am not a customer of Paragon Honda, and I am glad I have never been there. I was looking for a Honda S2000 and inquired about a car they had there. I asked them about pricing in emails yet they ignored my questions and sent me standard form letters and phone calls as if I had never asked them a question. I got sick of them, so I bought my car elsewhere.

I later stumbled across this website,(((redacted))) with numbers of complaints about shady practices. Its is amazing this place is still in business.



Just read there. I would trust these sources since they all seem to have the same story, just with different vehicles. This people are crooks. Stay away.

Do not even consider looking at buying a car with a a dirty exterior because you don't know what cracks and body damage you may miss.

Spend the money and get a Carfax car history report to find out if the car has been involved in any accidents or major repair. You don't know whether the car had major water damage from a recent flood or hurricane.

Contact the

NYS Office of attorney general and tell them to open an investigation because what they did is fraud

NYCDCA "Dept of consumer affair" get there dealer license number and put in a claim and let them investigate

but if you want really good result

call the media "investigation reporter"

and also look at past compliant from other customer that was caught with web of lied !

Always take the vehicle to an independent mechanic BEFORE you buy it then you will have a much better idea the condition of the vehicle. If the dealer won't let you do that then look elsewhere.

I'm sure your signature(s) are on the contract and that makes it binding. But, you should be able to cancel the extended warranty. If it is through Honda contact Honda's regional office in your area, skip the dealer.
