I had sent away for information when I received an email about getting an idea marketed, published and or manufactured. I procrastinated for a while then an agent called me.
A gentleman by the name of Bob Monday contacted me & informed me that they were about to take me off thier list if I didn't responed with an idea quickly
We talked about my idea for awhile n by the next day I faxed them over sketches of my idea
Once they received my idea I was contacted by another man, (whose name is escaping me right now, but I'm sure it's in my files somewhere) Telling me that I had one of the best idea he had seen in a while & on some supposed scale of 1-5 mine was a 4 which was extrodinary well.
I was told that is was going to take $5,000 to protect my idea & that all of this money was to go to the government & legal fees for filing and protection applications.
They reassured me time and time again that they don't make money unless I make money. They also claimed to be working very hard to get a manufacturer for why I needed to send they money A.S.A.P.
I filed for my so called Patent Pending status back in 2004. I received quite a bit of information in the beginning which left me with the impression that everything was going as planned
I had received several letters from P.T.I. with trade show results where they claim to have taken my idea. they said the trade shows were for manufacturer's only.
I was to respond to the companies that were interested and have them sign a disclosure agreement then wait 30 days. Had I not heard from them to send another letter and wait another 30 days.
This went on for quite some time and I would contact the company every so often once again reassuring me that it could take up to five years & that was the risk I would be taking.
After 2 years, they contacted me again wanting another $5,000 to continue to protect my idea. I told them I didn't have it nor was I going to try to get it.
They then proceeded to tell me that they can't guarentee someone might not take my idea and claim as their own.
Got one or two letters after that with Trade Show results, I replied and once again nothing, not even a rejection letter. I'm having a hard time believing that @ least one company wouldn't respond with something
After that I would leave messages, but no one returned my calls. I called again today, which is the first time in some months and received the information to file this report.
The part that kills me the most is I checked out this company with the B.B.B. before sending any monies. There were a couple of complaints, but nothing to be alarmed about.
I work with the public for a living so it is not surprizing to me to see a couple of complaints; being aware myself that you can't make everyone happy, all of the time, no matter what you do, so I wasn't concerned, now I don't know what to do.

Go to the US Patent office and do the work yourself. Why trust someone else to do it? how do you know THEY won't try to steal your idea? I am constantly surprised at how many people pay large sums of money to a company for something they can do themselves. You can also check at the sight to see if your patent has even been filed.
