Pentair Pentek Misrepresentation and abusive pricing Minneapolis, MN Nationwide

I purchased a Pentec (Pentair) Surge Arrestor Kit represented as being an accessory for my Pentek well pump controller.

The part (Pentek VFD-SGA)listed for $218 and was purchased from a Pentair dealer. When it arrived the Kit comprised 2 off-the-shelf Ditek parts still in the manufacturer's packaging. Both parts were available on-line for less than $40 each.

So, Pentair ripped me off $218 for $80 worth of parts just for putting a different part number label on the exterior of a box. I figure their gross margin on this product must be at least 90%.

Highly unethical behavior. Apart from the price gouging, I believe Pentair misrepresented the product by inferring that it was a dedicated part for the Intellidrive pump controller, when in reality it is just a standard surge suppressor.

I was unable to return the item for a credit because (quote) it was a special order item, but I shall be very wary of purchasing any Pentair product from now on.
