People's Trust Insurance Policy Cancelled for $3.00 Deerfield Beach Florida

My father's property insurance was cancelled on March 22nd 2016 for a $3.00 underpayment in December 2015.

In December 2015, I sent in a payment for $311.34. The bill was actually $314.34. People's Trust accepted and deposited the $311.34 payment. They NEVER sent a bill, cancellation notice or communicated in any other way to deal with the $3.00 shortfall.

The policy renews every year on March 22nd. I received several bills for the renewal amount of $676.00 for the 2016-2017 policy year. Again, there was no indication or bill for the $3.00 shortfall in 2015. The check for $676.00 was received and depositied by People's on March 15th. 

On March 22, 2016 People's sent an expiration notice (with the previous year's policy number-?), citing non-payment.

When speaking with a customer rep this morning, I learned that they never sent a bill for the shortfall in December 2015, nor did they add it to the next bill due March 22, 2016.

So, as of now, the policy is 'expired' and my father has no coverage.

The matter went to underwriting this morning for a review and - hopefully - immediate re-instatement. I'll find out by tomorrow morning.
