On Sunday December 2,2001. I had an alternator replaced a the Waco, Texas Pep Boys. After being told that I was the first in line and the alternator would be repaired in 40 mins at a replacement labor cost of $40.00. I was charged 13.00 more for the labor, the store manager refused to explain the cost difference. It took 4 phone calls from me,speaking to the manager and 4 aditional hours to start on the repairs. I was also told by the service writer and the store manager that I could pick the vehicle up at anytime. On a Sunday, this would not have gotten the vehicle repaired.

I complained to the district office and the complaint was sent to the assistant store manager. like he could solve the problem ... ..since the store manager told him to call me. I asked that the district manager call me anytime...

I am still waiting. I also refiled my complaint on their web site....still waiting....Wonder if Manny,Moe and Jack have to wait????????? i ALSO ASKED THAT MARK PAGE- SENIOR VP OF STORE OPERATIONS CONTACT ME.....OH WELL STILL WAITING

#1 UPDATE Employee

$13 dollars extra labor

AUTHOR: Jeff - ()

POSTED: Thursday, February 28, 2002

Honestly there could be many things that can raise your labor with changeing an altenator. One problem could be that there are interferances and this will cause an extra labor charge. Its not just a one store deal but every auto service is going to charge interferance unless their small time.

The interferance should appear on your invoice! I suggest that you look at your invoice it shows what pepboys charged you in labor because it will be there. Also what i want to clairfy is that when you picked the vehicle up you had to sign the invoice.

Now im not sure how everybody does it but id look at what im signing and if it is wrong for some reason bring this up to the service manager not the store manager; im gladly sure he would tell you what the extra labor was and why. I do believe that they should have called you to tell you about the extra service charge and im sorry you had a bad experiance with pepboys.
