On June 16th my husband and I contacted Phoenix car rental to see if they had any vehicles available for a same day pick up for a Las Vegas trip. We were informed that they did and to come down and fill out paperwork. When my husband and I arrived we were told that they just rented the last sedan and that they only had minivans left. I let the guy at the desk know that I was not interested in a minivan and I would go to their other location to get a vehicle I was comfortable with and wanted to rent. I was then told that they have a Chevrolet Cobalt that they have and I could rent that vehicle. I paid a $400 cash deposit to rent the Chevy Cobalt from Friday-Monday. The cost of the rental was $189 plus tax and insurance, which I agreed to. Upon leaving the rental car location we proceeded to the gas station to fill up the tank for our road trip. After filling the gas tank up with $35 and getting back in the vehicle we noticed that gas was leaking from the bottom of the vehicle. Gas was leaking like a water faucet. After leaking for 10 minutes and creating a large mess at the pump my husband was advised to move the vehicle so that the gas station attendant could clean the gas off the ground near the pump.

During this time I reached out to Phoenix car rental and informed them of the issue. They told me that I overfilled the tank and it was ok to drive. I told them that this is not normal and I was not driving the vehicle and to pick it up and bring me another vehicle. I asked the guy over the phone what type of vehicle he was bringing because I did not want a minivan. He said that he would not bring a minivan. 30 minutes later a man showed up with a minivan. The minivan was dirty and had what appeared to be blood smeared across the top of the vehicle and also had an empty tank. Since my husband and I were already pressed for time we agreed to take the minivan to avoid and back and forth with the rental car place and also because our hotel check in was at 1pm and we were already running late. Since we were still at the gas station we put $40 in thee tank. We made it to the freeway and managed to drive about an hour before the transmission on the car went out on us. We were literally in the middle of the mountains in Wickenberg, AZ in 110 degree weather while I am pregnant and getting dehydrated.

I contacted Phoenix car rental once gain and I was informed by the man that answered the phone that he would see what he could do and then he would call back in 10 minutes. 15 minutes went by as we sat ont he side of the road, so I called back for an update. I asked why I had not received a call back and I was told that it didn't matter because they know where I am. I told the guy that he did not ask the address or location of where I was broken down at and that he would just call me back. The man proceeded to yell at me and tell me that he had gps on all his vehicles and that he knew exactly where I was at. He then told me that there was nothing wrong with the Chevy Cobalt I first had and that I wasted their employees time having them pick the vehicle up.  I told him that it is unsafe to drive a vehicle leaking gas and it is not normal for a car to leak gas just because the tank was overfilled. He then hung up on me after saying that he was not going to argue with me. After and hour a guy showed up with a tow truck with another minivan .I asked him to be reimbursed for the gas I put into the vehicle that he was now towing and he said that he would leave paperwork in my file. We made it to Vegas at 8pm and our check in was at 1pm.

As we drove to Las Vegas we turned on the headlights when the sun went down and found out that one of the front headlights were out. We made it safely considering that. We also had to stop and put air in the front tire. When we checked out of our hotel on Sunday at 10am we made our was back to Phoenix with the transmission slipping several times in the vehicle, a loud noise coming from the back of the vehicle and also the transmission refusing to go over 60 mph parts of the way. My husband brought the vehicle back on Monday at 1030am and received no apology. He was informed that we would not be reimbursed for the gas we put in the 2nd minivan because the tow truck driver did not tell them how much gas was in the vehicle prior to bringing it to us. Also, all 3 of the vehicles that we had driven had over 150 thousand miles on them, which we did not know at first, because the company opened the panel and put a piece of black tape to block the 1 from the mileage on all of the vehicles. The 1 was only visible from the passenger side, so sitting in the driver seat you would be under the impression that the vehicles only had about 50 thousand miles which is false advertisement and possibly illegal
