PhoneAgentSource Phone Detective I paid $1.00 for the biggest pain in the neck I have ever had to deal with , Internet

I was looking for the white pages to look up an old friend. I entered the information required to get phone number and address. A box came up informing that the information would cost $1.00. Well, I wanted the mailing address so I entered my billing information. After I completed the transaction, a link was provided for me to get the information I paid for. The link took me to an account that informed me that I was now a member of http://www.phoneagentsource.com/ and that I had 1 credit for a search. I was not presented with terms and agreement before I entered my sensitive information. I was not informed that I was creating an account that would incur a monthly membership fee of $18.95. I chatted with a live representive and was told I had to cancel my account and sign in after 48 hours to make sure that it was cancelled. I told her that I was not informed about any of this beforehand, and I did not think that I should have to pay the $1.00 because I had not gotten the information I requested. The next day I chatted with a person regarding the $1.00 I paid for information I did not receive and the account I did not want. I asked for a phone number and thought I would be able to resolve the issue and get my dollar back. It turns out that the $1.00 was a membership fee and it would not be refunded. The fee was collected by deception and a recurring fee was set in place. If I did not cancel the membership (I did not sign up for) I would be charged every month. The sum of the story is I paid $1.00 for the biggest pain in the neck I have ever had to deal with. This is outright thievery. How can they get away with it? A dollar is not much, but I bet it all adds up at the end of the day and the beginning of a billing cycle if you didn't realize the deception in the beginning.
