I purchased a 50X Cd Rom Drive and a 56 K v.90 modem from Office Max, with the understanding that I would receive a rebate from Prime Peripherals for the full purchase price. This was in 3/01.

In May of this year, I started questioning whether or not I would receive the rebate check, and started e-mail correspondance with a representative of Office Max. She has been "working" with me ever since.

I have received numerous e-mails from her on Prime Peripherals behalf, saying that the "check is in the mail". I have yet to receive the check.

The latest e-mail, dated 7/30, say that the checks were being mailed on that very day and to allow 15 days for them to arrive. And if you believe that, I have some nice real estate for you.

Anyway, I have now filed a report with the BBB and am in the process of contacting the FTC. I will file a report with Office Max Corporate Headquarters to see how far this will get me, but I don't think I will ever see a check.

I called the local Staples store to then be referred to the corporate office. From that telephone menu I spoke to a representative who knew the problem and issued me a check.

The number I called was 1-877-235-9088, the secretary transferred the call to "Office of the President", then #1, #2
got me to the Staples Rebate Processing Center.

Hope this is helpful, thanks for the initial report.

Sincerely,

Dan J. Mc Neill
