My wife and I wanted to purchase a 2007 toyota camry. I went to Puente Hills Toyota because they were advertising 2007 camry's for 17,888. We also got pre approve through Capital One and Puente Hills Toyota were on Capital One preferred dealership.

When I went in to PHT Sean Davidson a finance rep pull 3 cars for me to look at. I test drove one and decided to buy that one. All three cars were red by the way. When I went in I was told they had to run my credit because they wanted to verify who I was (identity theft). I told the sales person they didn't have to run credit on me to check for identity theft.

So then he made up an excuse about running my credit for the Patriot Act. I told him Capital One said no additional credit needs to be ran. If you had any issue or concerns to give Capital One a call. I then asked the sale rep how much are you going to sell me the car for? He wrote on a piece of paper 17,988 plus tax and license fees. I told him I wanted to use my financing and I wasn't interested in having my credit ran. I told him If they were going to sell me the car for that price (17,988) they could run my credit (only to verify my identity).

When the finance rep (Mike Goulart) came out to talk to me the first thing out of his mouth was "how is your wife's credit?" Not, we ran your credit and you are who you say you are. I then asked him what does my wife's credit have to do with selling me the car. He then said "I can't make any money off you." So I asked him what does that mean? He told me he was not going to sell me the car. I then told him we agreed on a price which I have in writing. He said I can't make any money off you so I can't sell you the car at that price.

I told him Capital One is a lender you use so you will get your money. He told me he didn't want to wait for his money and the Capital One approval I had was different than the Capital One they used.

So as he was laughing about running my credit and happy to tell me he wasn't going to sell me the ad car, he stood up and looked at the credit application and said "is your wife here?" I said what and looked at the credit application. I had given the sales rep a previous credit app. my wife and I filled out a day before from another dealership to use for our address and job stuff.

I told Mike Goulart that was not PHT and I took it back. He said to me "if you leave with my credit application you are going to have some serious issues." I tried to explained to Mike Goulart they were not the only dealership with a blue credit application. He finally calmed down after people in the dealership was looking in our direction.

Think about this, if Puente Hills Toyota (Mike Goulart, Sean Davidson) new I had my financing in place and I was strongly against having my credit ran they should have turned me away with out running my credit. Instead what they did was make me believe they were going to sell me a car for the ad price hoping to beat my interest rate. When they found out they could not give me a better rate they told me to get out. They scammed me into believing I was going to buy a car from them instead I got nothing but a lower credit score. I feel this falls into the predatory lending and possible bait and switch.

I understand that all situations are different however integrity and professionalism was not applied in this case. This Puente Hills Toyota had one thing on their agenda make money or send the buyer home. I know that every person buying a car will not be as researched as I was but to make a small situation turn into a big problem; better decision have to be made. I don't know Mike Goulart or Sean Davidson as people, but their business sense - makes no (cents).

Something needs to be done to protect the consumers from this type of practices. This isn't the first time PHT has discrimated against wanting to use outside financing.

I ended up buying my 2007 camry from Carson Toyota. If you are looking for a great dealand good service go see Jamal. My experience was worth the travel.
