#2 UPDATE Employee
One other thing

One other thing that may have happened is a few years ago we ran a protion that ws a 2 year discounted rate that did not lock in the price. That may have been a promotion from a couple years back which had the 2 year agreement, without the price for life. we don't offer that promotion anymore, but that may have been the culprit as well.

The rate went up because the service was changed from 1.5mb internet service (Qwest Silver with MSFT) to 7mb service (Qwest Platinum with MSFT). At that point, you got 2 months free of internet, and on the third month, your price went to 39.99. Just a guess. Sounds like a newer rep that didn't apply the old discount rate when upgrading due to a complex ordering system. The old discount rate at 7mb internet service will be 36.99. On your bill you should see a base rate charge internet charge of $54.99 - $13 promotion discount -$5 bundle savings. Right now you see -$10 promotion discount -5$ bundle discount. The contract discount gives you the $13 monthly discount. It is an easy fix to go back to the $13 monthly discount by calling in and getting a good rep. If you have 1.5mb internet, your price right now would be 29.99 (44.99 base rate - $10 contract discount -$5 bundle discount). If you ask them to revert to the old promotion it will go back to the old cost, however you can have them revert it to the old promotion on the new 7mb internet and it would go to 36.99. Any speed upgrade constitutes a $10 increase, but still transfers the item called "promotion discount" on your bill based on you fulfilling the contract.
