Similar to many of those who have negatively reported against this company, I too was a victim of very aggressive collection practices.  The overarching argument often sighted by this company is that they collect due to the housing market and the impact on loss of capital to the associated HOAs...meaning, many homes are abadoned and are either foreclosed or will be foreclosed on and the HOA dues are unpaid, which in turn diminishes the overall look and feel of the community.  However, my fact pattern is different, I am a long-time homeowner who fell behind 30 days for $78.00.  I paid the HOA for two months at the onset of the following month.  However, the collection agency had billed approximately $800 in collection fees and refused to remove them or answer why it took 27 days to post my check to my account.  It was as if the check was held in order to apply all the collection fees.  Currently this company is involved in litigation and it has come to my attention that the property management firm is either a parent to or an affiliate of the collection company, but they hold themselves out to the public as completely unrelated entities.  When I called in to follow up on my payment to the property management firm (RMI), they refused to answer any questions because they alleged that my account was assigned to Red Rock Financial Services, but really, they are simply sister or parent-subsidiary entities with a tie and a pecuniary motive.  This was not done to protect the homeowners, this was done to rape the actual community in which they are contracted to service, by the property management firm itself.  The HOA has very strong legal authority to lien and they are contracting these collection agencies to do just that, in spite of the harm to the community, in order to line their own pockets.
