Reliance Surety Group sent check we cashed they stopped payment and bank wants money back or we go to jail Ripoff Los Vegas Nevada

we received a letter saying we qualified for 48,000.00 grant and they were sending a check for 4,950.00 and we were to send them back 3100.00 back to help with taxes,etc, my husband has a morphine pump and disaled and after sending them the money they told us we would be getting a check in 3-5 days. we then could never reach them by phone again and then the police showed up at our home tellingt us we will be arrested for cashing a bad check if we did not pay for the check in full now we are scared nand do not have the money my husband is unable to work and I just got out of hospital after having a stroke myself and we are in trouble and don't know what to do now.
