I purchased a rebuilt engine from www.remanufactured.com The cost was $2250 which includes the $300 core deposit that you are suppose to get back. They said my engine block was not rebuildable, so I got nothing for sending it to them. Unfortunately, the engine they sent was defective (broken piston rings). However, they tried to say my mechanic didn't install the intake manifold correctly and that there wasn't anything wrong with the engine.

They said there were special service bullitins to grind down the intake mainifold on this engine, but when asked to see such bullitins, they couldn't find them. I even contacted several other engine rebuilders as well the local Cadillac dealer, they never heard of such service bullitins either.

They then said they had pictures of the engine showing where oil leaked in due to "improper installation". When asked to see these pictures, they couldn't find them either. I had to pay them an additional $600 to get it back (inspection, reassembly, and shipping charges).

When they sent the engine back, we discovered it was a different engine than the one they sent originally. My mechanic put it in, but it had a low-end knock coming from it once the engine warmed up. Test driving it, it drove ok, but the knock was very apparent. We decided to send this motor back to get it fixed or replaced. For the money spent, one would expect it ought to run and sound correctly. These people now say that the engine was overheated and that the warranty is voided. It'll cost me additional "inspection and shipping charges" to get it back.

I've asked them to contact my mechanic and explain to him how he supposidly overheated this engine, and they have refused to talk with him. All they will tell me is that my warranty is voided.

I've filed complaints with the Better Bussiness Bureau. They say this company hasn't responded to their inquiries, and they've had complaints from others too. I then contacted the Attorney General's Office in Illinois and found they've already got a lawsuit pending against them as well.

Hiring a lawyer and traveling to Illinois would cost as much as the engine did. At this point, I'm probably just going to give my mechanic the title to the car and call it even. He's pulled the engine out three times already and put many new parts into the car as it is.

This company has cost me over three thousand dollars, and as of right now, I still don't have an engine for my car.
