$100 prepaid visa was issued, but must be activated using an automated telephone process for which you need an activation code.  To get that you must be able to sign into your rent.com account by remembering the email address and password you used to create the account last month.  Once signed in you activation code may or may not be displayed.

Once activated you have only a few months to use your $100 balance or POOF! It's gone! They straight up keep your money, but I'm sure no one ever forgets the card in their wallet or purse for a few months like I did, and if you do, no problem,  There's a customer service number hidden on the back of the Visa card.   I did make the time investment to get through the automated process to talk to the human hidden on the other end of that, and she was happy to issue a me a new card!  ... for a fee. Not a small fee either.  She was more than a little hazy on where that fee goes.  Not back to the landlord who payed the $100 plus some in the first place.  But my new card did come! But it needed to be reactivated.  This time I remembered what email and password I used to create my account, but my activation code was long gone.  No problem, just search the entire website to find how to contact them and request your activation code be resent.  Success!  Now back to the phone to go through the automated process of reentering the entirety of your Visa number, activation code and expiration date.  Now, if I don't forget the card again, and if it works.  I will end up with about $40 of the $100 promised.

Reading other people's experiences and knowing my own, Rent.com seems to be in the business of collection tenant finders fees from landlords offering to share that fee with the new renters, but throwing up sufficient hassles, road blocks and fees to keep people from collecting their $100.
