I received a letter which looked like it was part of a government initiative to help people delinquent on their mortgages. I'm delinquent on my mortgage. Sounded too good to be true. The LLC in the signature made me think of Googling American Relief Foundation, LLC where I found it at Ripoff Report.

They charge money to help people. Looks to me like someone is preying on people down on their luck which is the last thing they need. I read another report where they didn't honor a money back gaurantee. I bought my place in 85' and have never been out of work in my life working at least 2 jobs most of the time. Why don't they make money through honest sweat and intellect?

How did they find out I was delinquent? Where's some privacy?

Since I'm unemployed, can I get a job tackling these b**tards?

Now what?!

AUTHOR: Cheated by RRF - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, December 17, 2010

Mr. Holderness,

I am/was a customer of your company who is still waiting on a refund I submitted before your company was put under a restraining order by the Federal Trade Commission.  Where's my money?  I was about to lose my home, my money is already tight, and your company STOLE my $595 and gave me some BS excuse as to why it would take so long to get a refund.  I was also blantently hung up on several times when trying to cancel your services.  I almost lost my house!  Now I'm out more money I didn't have, because of your FALSE claims that are now being investigated.  I want my money back!!!  I cancelled your services on Nov. 8th within my 72 hour period to do so.  Still nothing!  Shame on you.  I hope the government closes you down, breaks your bank account and your home goes into foreclosure.  You cheat and lie.

RRF is truly a scam

AUTHOR: Amber - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 21, 2010

After talking with my mortgage company I was told that RRF is a scam and I was to immediately shred the letter I recieved and have NO contact with RRF. I checked with BBB and was told that RRF is NOT a BBB accredited buisness and  they have recieved a "C" on a scale of A to F (from the BBB). Also, I was informed that RRF currently has 19 complaints through the BBB. I would avoid being scammed by not having any contact with RRF.

Response from Residential Relief Foundation

AUTHOR: RRF Response - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 16, 2010

I am sorry that the otherwise anonymous SPIKE from Boston found it necessary to file a report against my company when SPIKE never signed up for our services.  How could SPIKE know about our services or our honesty?  As always, I refer people to the Better Business Bureau since they do not allow anonymous complaints.  We presently have a B+ rating.

I think SPIKE deserves a little attention since they took the time to say bad things about my company even though they were never a customer.

Let's look at this a little differently.  SPIKE lost their job. SPIKE is delinquent on their mortgage.  SPIKE will lose their home if nothing is done.  My company helps a lot of people in SPIKE's situation.

Do we charge a fee for our services, of course.  I'm sorry but when my car needs to be repaired, my mechanic charges to help me. When I get a haircut, my barber charges to help me.  I get an electric bill every month.  I think you get the picture.  I don't believe it is fair for SPIKE to suggest that only my company should go to work, provide a service that helps people for no charge.  I know that when I go to the grocery store to buy food for my two young children I have to pay at check-out.

I don't know why SPIKE dismisses the hard work that our company puts in everyday.  SPIKE wants to know about sweat...well we work in an office environment.  We've been sweating 'figuratively' everyday since we started the business (working with the lenders, reviewing the laws and regulations, developing computer programs, developing phone systems to increase contact with our customers, etc.).  Granted most of this effort came in a non-sweaty offce environment but my employees have proven that they are not afraid of real sweat either.  This spring somebody stole the air conditioner units from our office complex so there was a lot of literal sweat during the heatwave in April.

SPIKE wants to know about honesty.  I'll stand on my service in the Marine Corps as evidence of my integrity.

SPIKE wants to know about intellect.  I realize that lawyers aren't the smartest people in the world (and I am not the smartest lawyer in the world), but please give me some credit for having completed college, law school, and passing the Bar Exam in 3 states.  When you add in the fact that I have been a foreclosure attorney for thirteen years, I am comfortable that I bring as much intellect and experience to helping people save their home as any other company.

SPIKE wants to know how we found out he was delinquent.  When SPIKE failed to pay the mortgage it is reported to the credit reporting agenices.  If their are privacy concerns it is a matter SPIKE needs to discuss with their legislative representative.

I am not aware of any unreolved refund issues.  Somebody may have filed a report of an unpaid refund before they received the check, but that report is probably not true at this time.  The Better Business Bureau would not give us their rating if we had unpaid refunds.

I'm not sure why SPIKE wants to tackle me, or why he calls us b**tards.  I let my three year old boy tackle me when we pretend to play football but I don't think this would be appropriate for SPIKE and me.  I think name calling says just about everything we need to know about SPIKE's internal make-up.

If you've read this far it means you are probably in a tough financial situation.  We have the knowledge to help but, ultimately, you are in control.  You can try to figure out how to help yourself without my company's services.  You can listen to SPIKE.  You can request our services, or find another company to help.  You need to do something.

Thank you for taking the time to review my response.  I wish you the very best success.

James Holderness
