One June 8, 2010 I found SCBN Prescription Advocacy (aka SelectCare Benefits Network) on the internet and called them to see if they could help me receive my blood pressure medications at a discounted price as I have a very low income.  The man I spoke with quickly read off their terms and conditions (which stated there was a $50 one time only membership fee and that my particular medication would cost $30/month.)  I agreed (verbally only) and gave him my bank account number for direct withdrawal.  He told me that a packet would come in the mail and time was of the essence for me to fill it out, take it to my doctor to have him complete it and mail it in.

When I received the packet with a letter informing me that that they had withdrawn $80 from my bank account on June 9th, I realized I had been duped.  How could they withdrawn any money from my account, especially the extra $30 without even having my signed packet back and not having any medications sent to me yet.

I immediately phoned SCBN customer service and asked how I could cancel this mess.  I was told to write them a (nice) letter and send it with my (untouched) packet which I did immediately.  I received a letter back from them dated June 17, 2010 informing me that they could not refund me any of the money.  I called immediately upon receipt of their letter (July 9th) and asked to speak to a supervisor when I couldn't get anywhere with their customer service department.  I was told that supervisors don't take calls, they make calls and they verified my phone number.  Today (July 12) a male supervisor named Jody told me that SCBN was unable to refund any of my money.  I told him that I would take it up with my bank (I have an appointment tomorrow to do so) and was also going to report them to the Better Business Bureau.  He basically told me there was nothing he could do to help me.

This company is a rip-off who prey on older, low-income people who are seeking help paying for their medications.  They need to be put out of business.

Thank you for your time and concern in this matter.
