Schneider truck drivers drive like a bunch of idiots and are very unsafe. They almost ran over my wife today and two other cars behind her had to jam the brakes and pull over to the shoulder for safety. This incident occured halfway between Terrahaute and Indianapolis on I-70. The truck swerved from fast lane and tried to cut into the slow lane. It was really hard for my wife to get more details about the truck as she had to focus on pulling over to safety rather than getting details about the truck license plate #.

I drive once a month to KS and back to IN and in general Schneider truck driver are unsafe, wreckless and can kill people if they are on the Interstates. Unfortunately, there are more Schneider trucks driving in IN and its very unsafe for commuters. I have also filed a telephonic complaint with Schneider. I would appreciate if Schneider takes serious actions against their drivers and do something for public safety.

Incident date and time: 08.01.04, AROUND 4.30 P.M on I-70

Suggestion

AUTHOR: Wagger - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, December 15, 2011
It may help if you and all motorists stayed away from the big truck in the future. They have a tough job to do and don't need you lodging your car up under their trailer. The amount of down time for the truck driver having to do accident reports takes away a significant amount of money from their check; not that it is very big, it's not.

I really am glad I got out from behind the wheel; no more living in a truck; no more freezing my @$$ off trying to sleep in the winter; no more sweating all night in the summer; no more over priced, unhealthy, greasy truck stop food; no more sitting in line for an hour to fuel a truck; no more being woke up in the middle of the night by a refer that pulled in beside me to rest; no more opening the cab door first thing in the morning hoping to get a breath of fresh country air only to realize you are in a truck stop and some joker poured his p!$$ bottle on the ground right beside your door; no more fat, smelly, chain smoking lot lizard knocking on your door while you are trying to sleep; no more working for 70 hours a week only to take home $300.00 because dispatch mixes up AM and PM pick ups and deliveries; no more scale tickets, no more Trans-Pak, no more truck stop showers for $10; no more 2 mph traffic jams that last for hours and miles; But most of all, no more calls from b!t@hing four wheeler operators that do not see my signals because they are using their cell phone, eating a Big Mac, putting on make up, and yelling at the kiddies in the back seat, all while traveling 20 mph over the posted limit and changing three lanes at a time.

If you are in the trucking industry, you have my respect and sympathy.

If you are not, be glad.

My .02

Believe it or not, most of these things that happens on the road is due to inexperience.

The new guys tend to drive like they are still driving thier car, so if you get run over they probably didn't mean it.

Are You Serious?

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 15, 2006

In response to the individual stating that SNI drivers are wreckless and careless I have to say that if your wife was "cut off" on the interstate by a SNI truck she had to be running in a blind spot and SLOWLY accelerating past the rig. As a new driver I see operators on the road that cause me to wonder how they ever got a license.

Excessive speed in traffic, erratic lane changes, riding in blind spots, cruise control on with legs crossed on the seat, eating, cell phones...the list goes on and on...are just some of the unsafe habits of drivers of personal vehicles. Remember that the Interstate system of highways was originally designed and dedicated for military and commercial vehicle use, not for personal vehicles.

While I am glad your wife is ok and no damage was caused, this is not typical of drivers at SNI and is not tolerated behavior. SNI trucks are governed at 63 mph thus helping to save fuel and prevent the "John Wayne Trucker" from being a hazard on the road. Remember that commercial vehicles need more room to turn and accelerate than your car does and keep an eye out for the indicators on the truck. It's just a simple case of paying attention to the road and traffic patterns.

Put behind bars owners

AUTHOR: Peter - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 11, 2005

People like you causing problems.I know imagine who Ya are and how is yours driving and driving of Yours wife.Always to hands of steering wheel and glasses on windshield. You wife is one of safe unsafe drivers.Schneider running 63 miles per hour. Now You must understaend why he was passing Ya all.Its all above.North Carolina drivers manual says:On interstate is most unsafe slow moving vehicle.Virginia DOT manual says:The best way prevent accidents is keep vehicles moving with same speed. They are not pushed change lane and collide.Im sure You passed this Schneider truck couple miles ago. Then You slow down. You guys pushed him passed You.Your wife reminded O,I already passed thi truck and slowly speeding little bit.Y

ou started blocked The truck with governed 63 mph speed in right lane and behind him started be traffic, plenty guys had to slowing down.On his speed You guys blocked all interstate at 63 mph because lady X.just woke up.Schneider wanted to get back to right lane but he couldnt. He took the chance and tailgated you.

I was driving Schneider,I was driving JBHunt.Generaly this truck are not safe, because they cant keep the same speed as traffic goes.Next time call Schneider and tel em they had to do something with this junks slowing traffic. When i was driving JBHunt, just 62mph goerned I had complain calls. When I drove none governed truck no calls.Pass and miles away.Good bye.You could only ma lights in night as you loosing em.Governed trucks keep theirs drivers in the same pocket with problematic drivers.Slow drivers, and then they got this calls.

When I started my carrer as a driver in Schneider,as was bad guy.I told myself I ll be good boy, keeep rules,no tickets...one day stpped me sherif in Houstone and started issue ticket for blocking traffic.I was running 55mph 4pm.Last worlds:in my city you will drive as all arround you do.

I understaend Ya all bro and Yours morral issue.Just dont look for in eyes of others small piece if you got there three. This guy maybe lost his job because your wife is bad driver. She doesnt understaend rhythm of highway. Its like her heart. Its beeping...bum...bum.And we need to listen highway and rythm and Ya all be all right.

Do you want to know how i learn my wife how to drive arround truck.Do not give em chance. If You pass him run away from him,if he passing You=let him go,slow down if You dont feel safe.Just dont race with em.It was fire on The roof...You talking to my driving. When we drove to upstate NY for New Years eve,she drove different as she did before. She said:sorry, you were right.I have absolutelly no troubles with trucks now.

Blind Spot

AUTHOR: Floyd - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 29, 2004

I am a driver (not for Schneider) something I can say about Schneider is that i feel just fine driving my truck next to them on the freeway.

Something you and your wife need to understand a BIG TRUCK going down the road is about 70ft long and we have BLIND SPOTS and unlike your car our blind spots are very VERY big and you can have a full size van next to you and not see it in the mirror.

Now don't take this wrong but if your wife and two other drivers had to pull into the sholder then I would say that you all were going faster than the Schneider truck who was trying to get into the slow lane.? Did your wife not see the 3 lites on the side and back of the trailer going BLINK BLINK.

I can say this. it happens all the time. People like your wife will speed up and change lanes as soon as a truck turns on the turn signel.

backing up snc drivers

AUTHOR: Brian - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 25, 2004

I know some of snc drivers are idiots, I used to work for them, but I have to say that the drivers are some of the safest drivers out there, the company it self may not be all that great, but the drivers are. SNC DRIVERS STAY SAFE, AND COME HOME ALIVE, GOOD LUCK.

Never had any problems...

AUTHOR: Jesse - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 18, 2004

I never had a problem with the Schneider drivers I share the road with. Being midway between Madison and the major Iowa communities of Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and the Quad Cities I have certainly shared the road with quite a few Schnieder trucks. All the Schneider trucks I've ever shared the road with were good, considerate, and safe drivers.

Not typical of SNC!

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 15, 2004

I am not a Schneider driver. I can tell you without a doubt Schneider drivers as a whole are among the SAFEST drivers on the road. I would rather share the road with a Schneider driver than most others!

When you share the road with a Schneider driver you will not be tailgated by some big, bad owner operator who has delusions about being a cowboy in the fictional days of the wild west.

SAFE DRIVERS

AUTHOR: Randall - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 10, 2004

Not all Schneider Drivers are bad,I know because I have driven for them for 21 years. Please know that the public does not understand the other half of the story(mainly being the drivers).Until you have been in the cab of a big rig you have not had the shoe on the other foot.Idiots are every where, but not all truck drivers are unsafe.I am not saying it was your wifes fault I'm just asking you to calm down, take a deep breath and THINK. Schneider has now and always stressed safety as priorty number one!.HEY! perhaps the trucker did not see her because she was not visable in his side mirrors. In any case,I'm glad she's ok and no harm was done.To all who reads this remember, truck drivers are the LIFE BLOOD of AMERICA.If we dont drive,YOU don't eat. Thank You!

driver

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 08, 2004

First, please allow me to apologize to your family for the careless actions of many truck drivers. There are many out there that should not be behind the wheel of any vehicle let alone one that weighs 80,000 lbs. With that said to catagorize all Schneider drivers because of the actions of a few is unfair. The majority of our drivers are very safe, as our record shows.

At Schneider, SAFETY IS STRESSED and being unsafe is not tolerated! This does not mean that we do not have some bad ones out there, but the only way to get rid of these people is to report them. I know that this is not always possible. I am proud of what I do and want people to understand, especially the ones that drive cars, the enormous responsibility we have as truck drivers. I wonder how people would like to have there names, phone numbers and addresses painted on the side of their cars so we can identify the careless drivers of all motor vehicles and report them.

Nothing we do is worth risking injury to other people. The general public is uneducated in just what is is like to be behind the wheel of a vehicle that BIG and that heavy in the traffic situations we find ourselves in today. We need alot of ROOM! No excuses for being UNSAFE!

Please understand we are not ALL that way and the majority of us feel safety is the most important thing in our job.
