Sears ripoff fraudulent ripoff business mistreated Cincinnati Ohio

On October 22, 2002, I went to Sears to have the following services provided: tires replaced, oil change and general vehicle inspection. The Service Technician told me that my brakes pads needed to be replaced and any more driving would ruin my rotors. Each front brake would cost me $34.99 each(right side and left side), totaling $69.98. (labor not included with quote) I was informed that currently Sears was out of rubber brake pads. They would have to order them from a dealer and it would take 2 hours to arrive.Note: Pep Boys in merely five minutes down the street.

Sears only had the ceramic brakes in stock. These would cost me $99.00 for each brake pad set (right and left side)Once again, the labor quote was not included. I got suspicious and told them I would go to the dealer myself. The Technician informed me that the dealer would charge me double his quote.

I made an appointment with Pontiac Borcherding, located on Fields Ertel in Cincinnati, Ohio. Within five minutes the Borcherding technician came to me and said my brake pads were fine. I didn't need to get them replaced. However, if I adamantly wanted it replaced he would respect my wishes. At Borcherding, the Technician went out of his way physically show me the difference between my brake pads and a brand new set. My current brake pads weren't even 50% worn yet. He inquired why I was concerned about my brake pads. I explained that Sears Automotive told me my brake pads were ruined.

I think it is extremely poor business for Sears to practice fraud. I hope there is a way to prevent this dishonest retailer from taking advantage of their clients.
