So I bought the kids a ping pong table from Sears - the price seemed right. Drove the SUV to the store to pick it up - it was huge - too big to fit in the car.

So we set up home delivery - for after Christmas. I paid them $69.00 for the service.

Biggest mistake ever.

It's understandable when a delivery truck breaks down - so even three hours after the driver called on Thursday promising he'd be there in 40 minutes, explaining the unfortunate incident, I wasn't really upset. Trucks break down sometimes.

But what has happened since shows how completely incompetent and disorganized Sears has become.

I asked a simple question: when would the table be delivered? Thursday later or another day? Sears couldn't or wouldn't answer. I got switched from person to person, from department to wrong department. At the "global" customer service center if the person spoke English he or she was unable to deviate from a script that said they "understood my frustration."

But they had no answers. Several hours later a representative of the delivery company called and said he'd arrange a Saturday delivery. I said "Great!"

Then Sears called again...using a robo dialer...saying the delivery would be Friday between 12:30 and 2:30. So someone stayed around a second day to wait. Just before 12:30 Sears called saying they'd forgotten one thing: to take the table off the broken down truck. It was still out somewhere, and no one thought to take a second one out of stock and deliver that.

Saturday, they promised, 10 AM. So Friday night the robodial call came...but this time rather than simply confirming a delivery it switched me to the "global" call center, where a barely communicative representative asked me for my phone number (never mind that they had just dialed it) and asked me a variety of "verification" questions, before hanging up on me rather than simply telling me if or when the delivery would actually be made.

I really don't know if they actually will show up or not.

Deal with Sears Home Delivery again? Not me...and at your own peril!

An Update - Sears Fails Again!

AUTHOR: dave3474 - ()

POSTED: Saturday, December 28, 2013

Today Sears called at 7 AM and cancelled the delivery for a third time. This time they claimed they were cancelling because of bad weather - even though it was sunny and 45 degrees.

So I called and after the usual run around I found someone who said the table they'd promised to deliver for each of the past three days was out of stock!

I asked what happened to the one they had been allegedly trying to deliver on the truck that broke down.

There was a long pause. I was put on hold. Then the customer service rep came back and claimed that one had been broken and there were no more...that I'd have to wait for a shipment from the manufacturer.

They now are claiming they'll deliver on January 4th.

They did offer me a 10% off coupon for my next purchase from Sears.

They actually think I'd buy something from them again after this???

They're not just rude and unreliable, they're insane.

Do you know name of Company Sears used to deliver?

AUTHOR: Tinkerbell Neverland - ()

POSTED: Saturday, December 28, 2013

I feel your pain...  I have had the most horrible experience with Sears delivery over the past 2 weeks, much more than a late delivery or inept installation, much much worse.  I intend to file a report on this site as well as any other venue I can find; however, before I do I need to uncover exactly who it is Sears uses for deliveries - because here in Michigan it is NOT Sears! They use a company by the name of  "3PD" and I can't find any info about them on the Internet. Sears has been no help at all, it's such a long story; but, I too spoke with their customer service "people" at an 800 #, and was not difficult to determine they were outside of the USA.  All very nice, but clearly have no clue, and I swear I heard the pages turning as they attempted to read off the prepared "script", when they were not repeating my own words back to me.  If you know the name of the delivery company I would love to know as I think this may "3PD" and is probably a national company Sears uses as I've found a few other complaints about Sears delivery in other States thatmention "3PD".   I wonder/suspect if "3PD" is actually a subsidiary of Sears themselves, and they hide behind this corporate veil, as they are ashamed of their delivery services or trying to avoid being named or identifed in a liability case???  I have uncovered that 3PD uses sub-contractors, who from what I can determine are small fly by night individuals with trucks.  I'm actually in fear of one of the men who came out here which is why I used a very silly alias on this site.  I can tell you that if the delivery company was "3PD" then you should beware and use caution to not spar with or annoy them - they know your name, address, and your home layout. Had I known Sears was sending these unprofessional men to my home I never would have done business with them. I grew up with Sears, back in the day when a real "Sears" truck and "Sears" employees made the deliveries! I look forward to hearing from you if you do know the name of the delivery company. Thank you!
