This Longview, TX based business is involved in possible fraudulent activity. They are supposedly an Internet and door-to-door magazine sales company.

My experience was identical to other consumers filing complaints all over the United Sattes. In short, a young person came to my door selling magazines. He gave a heart warming story about how he is working hard to get off the street. He even made it sound like Second-to-None was a charity (their receipt even says no cash donations accepted). They sell over-priced magazine subscriptions stating that the excess goes to help kids get off of the street by giving them an opportunity.

The receipt says allow 120 days for delivery or a full refund will be issued. Their hope is that the consumer will lose the receipt and they can pocket the money. After 120 days, no magazine is ever sent and they will not issue a refund. The business has a 1-800 # that no one ever answers or returns calls from- (866) 721-7307. They also have a generic e-mail address on the receipt g9maur@aol.com.

An Amber Collier promised to refund my money within 5-6 business days, but never sent the refund. When I followed up, she quit responding to my e-mails. I have numerous, documented e-mails to her. I finally got a hold over her through a Better Business Bureau direct phone #. She promised to refund my money and even gave me a check number. Never came. I find it interesting that another compliantant states that he spoke with an "Amelia Carter." Sounds fishy to me.

After probably 50 or so calls I got through to Maurice Gary, the owner. He promised to send the check out immediately. Never did.

I looked the company up on the Better Business Bureau website. They have 100 complaints (rises weekly, it was 93 last week) that have been reported against this company in the since September 2006.

Eventually, there will be a class action lawsuit against this company.

Refund Check Had Insufficient Funds

AUTHOR: Too nice - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 02, 2008

I spoke to the "Owner," "Maurice Gary" on two occasions. The number appears to be his cell- 903-240-6773. He promised to send a refund. When I received the check, it had insufficient funds. Also, interestingly the check was post marked from Seattle, Washington. The Bank of America teller said that I might want to contact the U.S. District Attorney...made me wonder if the account was closed. We shall see.
