At Austin branch everything depends on where you are posted. Every post is different, but far too many are screwed up. Two rules: Don't believe anything the office tells you and, stay away from and avoid office personnel at all costs (familiarity breeds contempt, the more they see you the more they will lie to you - if you tell them they are wrong and prove it your a*s is on the list). Only Miss M can be trusted.
The office is usually 75% black (in a 10% black city) and some of them have chips as big as ships on their shoulder. Mix in incompetance and you've got people ready to explode when they can't handle a situation, or get caught lying (an enormous habit of the branch manager).
Reporting wrongdoing or even felony criminal acts by other officers or supervisors to the office or the alertline (that goes straight to the local HR manager) will get you in a lot of trouble - transfered to a dump site or better yet made a rover (ever done a crackhead/h*o infested motel 6 on a friday night?).
Remember, Texas is a "right to work" state and securitas is an "at will" employer. Basically you have no rights and can be fired at any time for any reason. If you want to do what's right, go ahead but expect them to "kill" the messenger. The office personnel want to do the least they can and people bringing them problems are considered to be the problem.
Keep your head down and try to get a quiet post with a decent supervisor. To the office you are just "a body in a uniform" and they will drop an excellent officer and replace him with someone who fits that description in a heartbeat.
I worked for aps/pinkerton/securitas in Austin for over 10 years and I can honestly say it is a royally screwed up branch. It is upside down, inside out and a**f****** backwards. White is the new black here but blacks aren't treated much better unless they're friends of the branch mgr. or hr mgr. But if they claim any kind of racist act, word or deed it is assumed by the office to be true until proven otherwise, and all the bros know this. So expect any report of wrongdoing by a black officer to be answered with a counter charge of racism that they weren't going to report until it became "necessary" to protect themselves.
Good luck and expect your number to come up eventually.

Securitas - 2012
AUTHOR: texpat - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, January 31, 2012
I do not know the justification in which the author is basing his information on but based on fact, contract an post-orders of each site he has made unfounded acquisations. Securitas is unarmed officers and perform on a basis of "Observe and Report". No the Security Officer is not going to get in the middle of a fight and try to stop it. He will observe, call 911 and call in the police. He or she (Of many ethinic backgrounds) is not allowed to get in physical contact with an issue as many are looking to get out of court settlements.
In retrospect the comment is outdated, not researched for authenticity and accuracy. Only the reader can use his own judgement into the authenticity and accuracy of the author with no personal animosity.
Managers do listen and investigate as to resolve problems and serve the customer. Customer service is a major part of security.
Security is not the Police, Military or a Black Water type service (Nor do you wan tthem to be). Nor are they to get into breaking up fights for the back lash of being sued unjustifiably is too great. But they will protoect a third person and give an accurate, unbiassed statement (No drama or opinion) ot the police. Some of this they will do depending on the orders given for each post and licensed training. Get in a fight by a bar and you may get sprayed with pepper spray which will be legal according to the Post Orders as they are reviewed by lawyers.
They will restrict unauthorized movement and access by workers and watch for discrepencies in the work.
In essence do not sell the security companies short. They save money and are of a good benefit to the operation of a business particullary for office buildings.
I just hope in the future (At least since 2008 since the first message was put in) the agency here verifies negative comments apparently written by personnel with a grudge. As far as the "black" reference the author is so far off-base I hope he/she is never put in place of public opinion or safety.

Private Security Officer Contractors in Austin are a RIP-OFF!
AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Monday, June 02, 2008
I have seen Securitas officers in Austin,Texas. They are all unarmed and their uniforms look like crap and their spirits seem broken and they are going to find a place to hide not protect their property. I have never seen a bunch of beaten-down, hungry-looking officers ever. I feel sorry for them and that goes for all of the young men I see. I DO NOT SEE ANY WOMEN OR PEOPLE OVER 40 which seems like DISCRIMINATION to me but it seems that privat4 security officer contractors seem to get away with breaking EVERY FEDERAL LABOR LAW on the books --even as few as there are that applies to private security officers.
I was in Austin recently to see relatives who are still trapped in sorry security work and it ooks like all the white guys skipped out and went to Allied Barton or other companies and left the predominantly Black officers from what used to be Pinkerton at Securitas.
That is one of Securitas tactics is to divide their officers according to gender and to race and alternative lifestyles, religion, etc. That is so they can't get together and see how badly they are getting F***ed over! Because they are so busy fighting each other for the crumbs while the managers are probably doing what it seems security operations managers always seem to do --ALLEGEDLY...
There ARE security companies in Austin where you can get more money but if you are a WOMAN, you better NOT apply to ANY of them!
IF you are over 40, if you are an ethnic minority,etc...
If you are Black, Securitas is where you work.
Allied Barton is for blond, blue-eyed white boys ONLY or you will get set up for failure guaranteed!
I do NOT know any GOOD security companies to work for in Austin! NOT ONE!
Why don't you just go on ahead and apply with Travis County Sheriff's Department or one of the Constable's office?
Don't waste your time having to kiss supervisor a*s---especially if that a*s is lying, thieving, hating and prejudiced AND IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT GROUP THE SUPERVISOR IS FROM!
Get out while the getting is good, my friend, or you will end up like my cousin, disabled and incapable of finding another job because of bad references from the sorry security companies!
GET OUT OR YOU WILL BE SORRY!
DON'T STAY IN HELL ANOTHER MINUTE!
