Where to start? goodwill.com is many different "shops" located in various regeions.
I have had the displeasure of buying from a few.
They charge insane shipping prices but actually ship them at the cheapest possible rate. Pocketing the money!
they also charge a crazy handling fee! They mostly just drop fragile and antique items in a box or envolope with no regard as to its safety. If you ask for a fragile item to be packed properly you will be told you selected a cheap form of shipping (which you can't do as SGW charges a flat rate thats very high) and are told if its damaged its a matter of the PO to not them!
They will ship anything fragile in an envolope or a small box with no packing material and tell you its the post offices fault if its damaged. They are strealing your money with insane shipping costs and fees and are completly negligente in packing and shipping. This is a true and obvious scam!
I have had many fragile items damaged to pieces because it was just dropped in an empty box! Or put into a media mail envolope! Just as one example, a folder with a couple records was going to be shipped in an small envolope, real costs were under $5. They charged me 17.50 for shipping priority mail plus a $6 handling fee! Which means they were not shipping my items by the service it was supposed to be shipped by and not packed in a safe or professinal way. You will not get a refund on shipping, they are just stealing your money!
Also, beware when you bid! If your bid is high enough the same "bidder" comes alone and ups the bid to your max amount!
This is classic shill bidding!!! This is so common I cannot understand why this site is still up and running!
Another big issue is in their fradulent listing practices. They will state an item is "as is" and show pictures thet disguise the broken items. If you email to ask for a better picture or two or ask about damaged they will not reply. Intentionally hiding damage and then packing it so poorly and then blame it on the post office is an epic scam!
So in summation shopgoodwill.com will charge you insane shipping prices and then ship it for MUCH less using the slowest possible method pocketing the money! Items are often broken or damaged in the listings but they will not divulge this damaged.
The handling fee varies but in no way reflects your items proper handling or packing.
If its fragile it will be abused and broken by careless packers. It will most likely be dropped in a box with no packing or wrapping so they can tell you its the post office's fault! It will arrive damaged and most likely was damaged before it even shipped!
You will be ripped off, lied too and chaeted out of alot of money from these onlone pirates!
Buyer beware!!
