Shopko's policy is to allow a customer to write a check for $15 above the purchase amount and receive cash back. On occasion, a cashier has told the customer she had entered an incorrect key which made the check for the amount of purchase and therefore could not give the $15 cash back. She refused do redo the transaction.
The service desk employee was no more efficient in solving the problem, asking the customer to issue a second check for the same amount even though the first had already cleared the customer's account.

As a former Loss Prevention Manager of Shopko, I can assure you there are NOT cameras above every register. We (LP Personel) used to have to run the cable and hook up the camera, IF there was a suspected sheft proble. In the majority of the stores there is a PTZ Camera at the front end which is usuall focused on the exits. They are not refusing to show you the tape they are forbidden to by P&P. My suggestion is to contact you local Law Enforcement and make a report as they are able to get access to any and all vidio available.
Sorry and hope this helps

#4 UPDATE Employee
checks are processed electronically

Shopko processes checks electronically as do most stores these days. They only way they could redo the transaction would be to do a cash refund and then have the customer rewrite a check for $15 over the purchase amount. Even though the customer wrote the original check for $15 over it was processed for only the purchase amount so only the purchase amount would come out of the customers checking account.
