I called the 800-840-0913 number by mistake, as I was one digit off from the number I intended to dial.  A male with a very hard to understand, India accent, answered saying "You won a $100 gift card for being the first caller today".  Since I thought I was calling a company that I trust, I assumed this to be true.

When he asked for my credit card to pay for shipping, I obliged thinking it was a different company.  I told him, "save the credit card number because that is why I called.  To give you my new credit card for my autoships."  His reply was "We will get to that in a moment."  

After he took my card he then said I was getting some other stuff in the mail and if I didn't want it that there would be number to call & cancel.  If I didn't call & cancel my credit card would be charged $14.99 this month and $29.99 every month.

I then asked if he worked for the company that I thought they were.  He answered: "I work in the promotions department."  I then demanded to be transferred and he said the lines were busy and that he would transfer me as soon as we were finished.

I new very angrily demanded to the entire transaction be cancelled and to not send the gift card.  He said that he could not cancel the transaction.  The only way to cancel is if I went thru a "verification" process to get a code.  I angrily refused several times, and was transferred to his supervisor.  She repeated that only I could cancel this transaction after going thru a verification process.

I finally agreed to go thru this process, but when the recording asked for Social Security Number and credit card number I hung up.  They immediately called back.  Repeated demands to cancel the transaction was ignored, and I was repeatedly told that the only way to cancel was to answer all the questions in that recording.  I hung up again.

Several minutes later a different male, (same India acccent) called stating that they had a recording with my consent to run my credit card.  He said the name of his company was SMARTSHOPPER out of Clearwater Florida.  When I told him I was cancelling the card he said it didn't matter, that they would still take the money out of my account every month.  He started yelling at me, asking me if I understood english.  He hung up on me.

I had to cancel my card and pay  $29 for a new card to be shipped overnight since I am leaving on vacation.
