This company does not support its product. I have had nothing but problems with my Smart Start unit since it was installed six months ago. The unit goes off every two minutes, and at least every five minutes - sometimes it just goes off without a countdown at all. I find myself focusing on my next blow rather than the road ahead. I contacted technical support several times to discuss my concerns and to go over the problems with the unit such as how the unit goes of constantly, how it requests me to blow without a countdown and how I have had continued missed tests without any explanation. (These missed tests by the way have resulted in my license being taken away twice. ) Smart Start blamed the problems on my automobile and not on their product although I have had no problems with my vehicle.  Due to the problems with this unit, I missed over four tests in just six months. The reports showed that driving was taking place while these tests where missed and showed many tests occurring before and after the missed tests. It never made any sense when I saw the reports and the hearing office scratched her head over it as well. The most recent technical difficulties occurred when the unit was counting down every two minutes and requiring me to blow repeatedly, and when I contacted technical support, they took no responsibility for the problems with the unit. I asked them to switch the unit out, they said they would not. I asked them to review the reports so they could see the frequency of the test requests, they would not. The technician and the manager argued with me and would not let explain what was going on with the unit, they were too busy explaining why the unit was doing what it was doing and how my car was responsible for the problems. They took no responsibility for the issues with the unit. I told the technician that I found the frequency of the blow requests to be unsafe, and they adamantly said it was not unsafe. I find it unbelievable that anyone would think something beeping every two to five minutes requesting a blow would not deter one from the safety of driving. I told them at that point that I wished to switch companies. I had just gone in for my download one week prior and paid for the current month and the following month ($75 each). They refused to credit me for the time unused although their product is faulty. They refused to prorate any time unused and would not admit or perform any discovery into the faultiness of their product. They also plan to charge me an additional $75 to remove the unit from my vehicle. This company is unethical, does not support or take responsibility for their faulty product, and takes your money even though services were not fully rendered. Do not use this company, there are others out there that are much better.
