December 17, I purchased a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 from Spradley Barr, Greeley.  This dealership, and/or its salesman either lied to me about having inspected the vehicle or deliberately sithheld information about existing damage.  While examining the vehicle, salesman David Merems pointed out a small ding in the tailgate and made a point of telling me how important it was to him to disclose all defects.  I took the vehicle home overnight and discovered additional damage to the inside of the tailgate.  We negotiated a discount for the newly discovered damage and I agreed to purchase the vehicle and fix the tailgate myself.  The weather was awful, so I did not thoroughly check for additional damage, but before closing I stressed again to Mr. Merems that I am relying on his assurance that there is no other damage.  He assured me that the vehicle was thoroughly examined in their shop and there was no additional damage or mechanical issues.

When I took delivery December 21, I discovered a broken grill and broken headlight assembly.  I immediately called Mr. Merems and he acted surprised at my discovery.   He said he would talk to the used car manager and see what he could do to “make this right.”  I then received a call from used car manager Kacy Foster, who was not impressed that I had relied on his salesman’s representation of the vehicle, and refused to take any action to correct his misrepresentation.  I, of course, signed all of the requisite papers acknowledging that I am purchasing the vehicle “as is” so I have no recourse.  But this damage was either known or should have been known by the dealership and disclosed to me. So they either lied about having conducted a thorough inspection, or they deliberately withheld information about the damage.

Issue Resolved!

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Thursday, December 22, 2016

I met with the dealership general manager today.  They have agreed to replace/repair the damaged items.  Assuming that they call to schedule the repairs as promised, this issue is resolved to my satisfaction.

They either did not do the rigorous inspection they said they performed, in which case they lied to me, or they knew about the damage and didnt disclose it.

They failed to inspect the truck?

So to give a summary of your report...

You looked at a truck, took it home, and during all this time you somehow missed a damaged headlight assembly and grille.   You also signed all of the paperwork where you acknowleged you are purchasing the truck "As-Is".   So then when you finally go to take the truck home you notice damage and are now blaming THEM for failing to inspect the truck?

That's it..right?

Did you not even ONCE walk to the front of the truck and look at it?  If the weather was that bad that you couldn't even be out in it long enough to take a 30 second walk around the truck..perhaps you shouldn't have even been driving.    By the way on the "flip side", if you come here and say you missed it every time  until the last time...it could be a high possibility that if they did inspect it.they could have honestly missed it too.

Sorry but by your own admission you FAILED to even do something as simple as walk around the truck BEFORE you bought it, and signed the papers that said you were buying the truck As-Is.

So if they end up doing ANYTHING for you, consider yourself very lucky.  If not..enjoy your truck.
