My daughter has a mortgage with SPS and they have made her a 3-choice offer. One choice is a short payoff using certified funds for "full and complete satisfaction of mortgage loan". She rec'd a 3 page document.. 1st page is a letter explaining the 3 options. 2nd & 3rd page are the agreement.
Note:
1. Short payoff amount and wording is not in the agreement, only in the letter which references the agreement as Attachment 1 at the bottom of the letter.
2. By phone, they said she did not need a different agreement, just sign the one she has and send in with the certified check, or
3. Fax in the agreement and send the payment by western union.
I have many concerns, but I am especially curious
4. if anyone has sent payments by western union and had problems?
5. Has anyone had problems when they sent documents by means of a "signature required" method and had problems?

****You are dealing with former Fairbanks Capital Corp****
If you are not familiar with the name run it through your favorite search engine or visit www.ftc.gov/fairbanks for info regarding the 2004 USA/Curry v. Fairbanks class action settlement.
Charity, be just as careful when making payments by Western Union speed pay or quick collect or whatever it is called these days as that doesn't appear to be a much better option in terms of guaranteeing your payments are received from what I have read.
I've been fighting what a NH Superior Court judge ruled an illegal foreclosure on my home since 2002. I now have a $13 million racketeering action filed against Fairbanks/SPS and others involved with my loan. Feel free to run " Mike Dillon New Hampshire foreclosure " through your favorite search engine. You should come up with plenty of information on me.
Good luck

I received the same mortgage modification letter and I have an appointment with a attorney tomm. I am very weary of this deal myself. Have you contacted an attorney? My modification gives me a choice to lower my payment and interest rate which would be great if it worked but I am scared because of all the feedback I have read here and the information I found at the better buisness bur. I have however used wester union to make payments to them and it has always worked I usually make my payments this way it cost about 13.00 to use western union quick pay. If you have talked to an attorney please let me know what he had advised you to do. I will also let you know what mine says tomm. Good luck
