I bought a bedroom set from Macy's and paid over %400 for a Seven Year Platinum Plus Warranty. I was told that I can trade in and led to believe that over the seven years I would be covered. The first year my bed rails broke and it was replaced.

In 2005 the desser gor burnt with candles and I reported it to the company. The representative did not write muliple burns. When the service man came out and he saw athe three burns he called in and they denied the service. I wrote a letter to the office and they further denied it.

On May 6, 2006, my rail broke on the bed. I calle din the report and was told my warranty does not cover breakage of wood. While examining the damage I discovered a fault in the way it was assembled. I contacted the office and they denied the claim. I was told they can give me a service man telephone # and will have to pay out of my pocket.

I am sleeping on the floor and will have to do so until I am able to pay for that service.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

This is how it works

AUTHOR: Sean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, May 08, 2006

I am very familiar with how it works with stainsafe.

Just like any other warrantee service, they only cover EXACTLY what the warrantee says it covers. If you had 3 burns at the same time you must report "I had 3 burns that happened (must know exactly when)" Stainsafe does not cover accumulation (it says that in the warranty). Stainsafe also does not cover breakage of the rails. (says that in the warranty, also) However, may be covered under manufacturer's warrantee. You should call Macy's customer service.

Everything warranteed one year, after, it goes by manufacturer's warranty. If you paid $400 for the warrantee, the set must have been several $1000s. Ask for a manager at Macy's customer service and see if they can't be of some help with the rails.

Just be reasonable and explain the problem with broken rails and a good customer who made a great purchase and see if can at least get a technician to come out.

Stainsafe is a great service if utilized properly and exactly under the terms of the warrany. If you do what you are REQUIRED to do, Stainsafe does what they are REQUIRED to do, no more, no less. They really do replace furniture that is not repairable or parts no longer available.

Hope this helps

You expected a warranty service to cover the burns?

AUTHOR: Scott - (U.S.A.)

Why would you expect the warranty to cover consumer negligence? Candle burns have nothing to do with the manufacturing process or installation. You chose to put the candles on the dresser and allowed them to burn too hot.
