I was hired full time in August of 2011 and was let go before October 1st of 2011.  I worked hard, showed up daily, and never complained about a thing.  Called into work one day to find out whether I worked the next day and manager gets on the phone to tell me "business is slow, so we are gonna lay off some guys right now"  Well after talking to a few friends/co-workers there I was told I was fired due to a incident from a Facebook post.  To talk about the post was on a friends page and wasn't even mine and I said a few things on there not even about work and a lady posted that was her baby daddys mom said she was gonna file police reports on us and call our jobs.  Well all in all the lady called my job and probably lied her teeth out and this is the true reason I was let go.  They wouldn't even tell me the honest truth and now I'm going to get the news to do a report on this wrongful termination.  Also this company violates a lot of safety and health laws that are currently being reported.  DO NOT do business with these crooks!!!!!

OK, genius.  Care to tell us which one (or more) of your civil rights were violated?   It's in the title of your post, but the body of the post makes no reference to civil rights.

Do you think you have the right to remain employed at this company?   Think again.   You live in an "at will" employment state.   Your employer does not need a reason to terminate your employment.   Sounds to me like they did you a huge favor by calling it a lay off.   If you're laid off, they can't contest unemployment benefits.

If the true reason you got canned was because of something you posted on the Internet, maybe the lesson to be learned is to think before posting something under your own identity.   There are often consequenses to doing so.     Sadly, it seems that the lesson you took from this is that you have some imaginary civil right to remain employed.

I'm going to get the news to do a report on this wrongful termination.  "

Sure you are.   Once the media gets wind of this imaginary injustice, I'm sure Brian Williams will be banging on your door for an exclusive interview.

Civil rights?

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

Wyoming is an "At-Will" employment state which means that unless you are under a specific employment contract(such as a Union Contract) the employer can fire you at any time and for any reason as long as they don't violate any discrimination laws.  Even though you want to think being fired for posting on Facebook is discrimination..it isn't.

As long as you keep within the terms of any Website you can post what ever you want.  But if your employer sees it and doesn't like what you say they can fire you.  Many people have been fired because of what they have posted on Facebook.  Generally if you don't want the entire world to know about something you probably should keep it off of any Public website.

How, exactly were your civil rights violated?

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, October 06, 2011

You believed some (former) co-workers comments as to what actually happened?

Most companies, don't need a "reason" to let you go.

Sorry for your job loss, but I'm not sure you have the whole picture yet.

Please cite any laws violated that took away your "civil rights", or is this just hyperbole?
