I purchased a 'digital download' of one of Stardocks games. After I entered my card details I was pushed to a form that contained no information on how to download my file. I eventually discovered that the game must be accessed through their proprietory system and you don't actually get any download file at all. The entire process was obstructive and the end result was that I never managed to obtain the game.

I consequently requested a refund, after which followed a series of exchanges in which I was fair and restrained, while they were extremely obtuse, deliberately taking my statements out of context, and did nothing to attempt a fair resolution. They simply refuse to refund my money even though I never received the game.

This company goes out of it's way to disguise the true nature of its 'digital downloads'. It deliberately makes the process of obtaining the game difficult and does not attempt to resolve issues reasonably. You're not actually getting what is implied, they are not honest and do not stand by their product. These are the symptoms of companies that make more money ripping people off than providing a genuine product or service.

Do not believe the image stardock have spun around themselves. Stay away from this fraudulent company.

Huh? Seller suggests a 'charge back' be initiated?

AUTHOR: Adolph - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 11, 2008

Something's really fishy here! Any legitimate merchant will normally do what they can to avoid a (charge card) 'charge back'. Merchants are penalized by the charge card issuers according to the frequency of charge backs. As the number of charge backs ascends, the merchant is charged a higher processing fee, leading to income being with held, and ultimately losing the ability to process charges.
.
For a merchant to forego a legitimate refund in favor of creating a charge back flies in the face of common sense!

#1 UPDATE Employee

Stardock does not tolerate profane language

AUTHOR: Stardock Sales Team - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 11, 2008

We were assisting this customer until he sent an email containing profane language. Our spam filters bounced this message back to the customer, who then edited the profane language to circumvent the filters. Note that there was more than one swear word used in his email, including "f***", "p***", and "s***". Our employees will not be be berated via email.

This customer can receive a refund by filing a dispute with his credit card company.
