EXACT SAME STORY FROM "SOCCER COACH" IN ENGLAND USING STORMPAY-HE USED ANOTHER NAME WITH ME!

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (Canada)

POSTED: Monday, July 28, 2008

Thank-you Char for confirming my worst suspicions!

I was counting on the sale of an expensive ring to pay my mortgage this month.
No time for pursuing Storm Pay in the middle of financial crisis mode.
The story he gave you was precisely the story he gave me, but he used a different alias.
I have reported to phonebusters.

I am supposed to receive a payment of $1100. U.S. from Storm Pay which I now never expect to see.

The ring was sent by FedEx and signed for on July 14, 2008 by some guy in England using only a first name and shaky writing. Phonebusters policeman said the crooks usually use a homeless person to sign for items they intend to steal.

Now, here's the most galling part of my story. I have to continue to try and sell items on Kijiji Toronto, and today I placed an ad for another expensive ring.
About an hour or so later, I got an e-mail asking what my "last price" would be and that the man wanted to buy it as an engagement ring for his fiancee.
I knew immediately that this was the same bottom-feeder that ripped me off for my ring using Stormpay scam.
My first e-mail response from the man who ripped me off (I suspect he is part of a ring of thieves) went something like this -
IS ITEM STILL AVAILABLE AND WHAT IS YOUR BOTTOM PRICE.
What alerted me to this was the unusual way of saying lowest price. I had never heard anyone use the term "bottom price", nor have I ever heard anyone use the term "last price" Maybe, he's trying to seem British?

He cut to the chase in the e-mail today which was another red flag. Anyone who is that interested in an item never tips their cards and let's you know until they have negotiated a price, that is, if they ever let you know how much they want an item.
All this said, to let people know that this guy is getting bolder.

If anyone knows how to get money that is owing from Stormpay, I surely would appreciate the advice. Richard at Phonebusters to whom I reported the crime does not think I'll get the money. Also, he said the ring has probably changed hands umpteen times.

What else can I tell you to warn everyone?

If someone does not want more information about an expensive item you are selling and if they are too ready to accept a price close to your asking price and if they do not care first about coming to see the item before purchasing (This is why I see in hindsight that Kijiji recommends that you only sell locally)...
then alarm bells should go off in your head!

I was desparate to sell, and that is why I suppressed my misgivings. Now I am in even more desparate straits. Richard at Phonebusters said that desparation is what makes people vulnerable to fraud. Just wanted to stress this point since I do not wish anyone else to fall into this guy's trap!
