On Christmas day, my daughter activated her SIM and plan with Straight Talk.  Two days later she was notified that she used ALL of her data and now can not access anything other than doing calls and basic messaging.  There is no 2G.  She was on a 2gb plan.  During those two days, we didn't leave the house once and she was connected to our home wifi the entire time, meaning, she would have use barely any data if any at all.  When she called to check, she was told she had already used 2.35gb of data.  Which is impossible.  I have ATT and I use 1.5-2GB a MONTH.  There's no way around this, straight talk stole the data.

It’s actually rather easy

  As I am the one who set it all up and made sure she was connected to WiFi and did so again once she got the message, I know this is an issue from straight talk. Funny enough, there are hundreds of people with this exact same issue and straight talk has had a class action suit against them for it before. A simple google shows that. Our WiFi signal has always worked well in all rooms as our house is set up for that exact purpose. But great job defending the company.

Not as easy as you think

This is a technical issue you are encountering. I don't know how Straight Talk phone sets up for the cellular data. You may need to take a look at your daughter phone and see if the default setting is to use Wi-fi data before cellular data. Or how your daughter is using the phone (e.g. streaming the phone in the blind spot in the house). Normally, a phone will switch to cellular data if the Wi-fi signal is not strong enough (and there are usually some spots in the house that can't receive Wi-fi signal).

I understand that parents usually take their own children side. However, you should at least investigate how your daughter used the phone. If she kept streaming vedio or movie (especially HD), then she will run out of data usage pretty fast. 2 Day is about right for 2GB for kids these days.
