I bought an Android phone via Straight Talk's website with a $30 plan.   At some point, Straight Talk started charging me $45 per month with no notice.  Twice I contacted them about the issue.  On the first contact, 10/20/15), I was told that my plan went up since I brought my own device.   I refuted that with evidence that I bought the phone off their website.  The story then changed to they had posted an incorrect promotion.   My position was that I would rather switch charriers than pay the additional $15 per month.   The rep (Maria in the Philippines) said she would change my rate back to $30 and give me 13 days credit.  I had to argue to get the credit which should have been for 15 days, but settled on 13 days so they could feel like they won.

My next bill showed that my rate had reversed back to $45.   I contacted them again, pointing out that under consumer protection laws, you cannot agree with a consumer on a rate of $30 and then charge $45.   After talking with Ian, Keif, Lena, and Renee', I ended up calling the legal department (because no one in the Philippines would transfer me back to someone in the US.   I left (basically) the above message for Pearlene Graham in the legal department 11/13 and have not had a reply to date.

I wonder how many other customers are being told that their bill is X only to find that Straight Talk charges the credit card on file as 1.5 times X.  There has to be a a significant number. It would be anyone who bought an Android phone off the website with the $30 plan.  Sure sounds like a class action opportunity to me.

Plus, they have bad serivce.  Even with 4 bars, I cannot connect to the internet in various places around town.  I recommend you find a different carrier as this one is not built on integrity.
