Strayer University Online FALSE INFORMATION LED TO CREDIT PROBLEMS Newington Virginia

I began classes with Strayer University in winter 2006. I was told that I would receive financial aide no matter what. I didn't want to begin courses right away(one day away and no books!), but the advisor guaranteed the professors would work around me. I began the courses and received the books within the same week. I thought everything was going well, despite the fact that I never heard from any Strayer representive in months. I decided to take a break between the next set of classes.

I began receiving phone calls from a collection agency that September. They said I owed 2863.11 to Strayer and when would I be able to pay. From the time I began at Strayer until now(2007) I received notices informing me of my account balance, and in bold letters across the bottom THIS IS NOT A BILL.

I called the person that signed their name to this letter and never got a response. I kept detailed notes of every single person I talked to and every correspondance. The credit agency had posted on my credit report that I owed Strayer. I then filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. I didn't hear from them for a month and then one day in the mail, I received a letter from them. The letter stated that Strayer was going to credit my account and that I would only have to pay for the books because they were never sent back to the company(which I was never told). As of now I contacted the credit collection agency and was told that they cannot remove it from my credit until Strayer contacts them. I ordered a credit report from Equafax and filed a dispute against that charge on my credit and they are now in the process of investigating.

Always keep detailed notes when you think someone is trying to get over on you and you will prevail!
