Suntrust Mortgage steals my escrow I paid off my mortgage and after payoff Suntrust kept another pmi payment Nationwide

Suntrust Mortgage has been difficult to deal with. I did not choose them to service my mortgage but it was sold to them before I even closed. I recently refinanced so I would not have to deal with them any longer. The payoff was funded in May and in June they collected an additional PMI payment. When I questioned this, they told me PMI was paid in arrears meaning I am paying for the previous month. When I looked through my documentation, it shows that I paid the first month at closing and my statement reflects payments for the statement month not the previous month. It looks like they will get away with it. I filed a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Service but that seems like a joke. It seems more like a place to have a conversation with the lender and that they don't really do anything about my complaint. I wondered if this happened to anyone else. Pay attention to your loan and payments if you have Suntrust.
