I have never been so outdone with a car dealership in my entire life like I am with Suzuki of Nashville. First of all my husband and I made a purchase of a 2008 Toyota Camry on 2/5/11 with many false promises. We were promised a warranty which we received paperwork in the mail with a contract number to later find out oh you don't have a warranty. Secondly please beware if you are a finance company that works with this establishment because when they tell you a customer has a certain down payment down on a car, negative not true. You're coached on what to say when the finance company calls. Thirdly we have a years worth of oil changes for free per a coupon received on file with Suzuki which we took advantage of and had an oil change done on the car in April. So June 4th we drive 2 hours to Kentucky stay the weekend get back the 6th of June jsut a day out of having our car. Hubby takes the car to the gas station to fill it up for the week and WOW guess waht happens car dies out on him. UMMMMM and it's a 2008 go figure. So he's now wondering whats going on with our vehicle. Car finally starts up but as he gets to our subdivision the car is now making a loud ticking noise and the oil and maintenance lights are coming on. HERE WE GO!!!!!
Next day we try to take the car in to Suzuki low and behold car won't drive starts clicking and shaking, result missed day of work for hubby and I both. So we call Suzuki and they tell us oh you have to have it towed in we aren't paying for a tow so yes I find out who tows their cars and have it towed to them and charge it to them yes I'm angry by now. It's now 7pm car gets looked at the next day by Suzuki they tell us oh it's not our issue and you'll have to tow it to the Toyota dealer but don't tell that it was towed from us, GO FIGURE!!!!!! Well to conclude the RIP-OFF SCAM. The Toyota dealership calls and tells us that engine was starving for oil and that we would have to pay $116.00 and $1075.00 to have it looked at and engine broke down. Now understand Suzuki supposedly did our "FREE" oil change and they are not taking any responsiblity in the situation. WHAT A RIP-OFF. FALSE PRATICES, AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FALSE PROMISES. I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO THEM NOR WILL I EVER REFER ANYONE TO THEM. This has beena true lesson learned for us but not a done deal yet. MORAL TO THIS SITUATION NEVER EVER TRUST A SHADY CAR DEALERSHIP!!!!!!!!!

Why Do You Think...

WHY do you think they call them IDIOT LIGHTS???? Cause the idiots look at them when they come on and don't have a clue what they mean AND do NOTHING. They come on for a reason. Not to be pretty. Not to add colors to your dashboard. I much preferred guages to idiots lights. Then I had an idea of how my vehicle was running in different situations. Look at the facts. OP fills up car and vehicle dies. STARTS wondering WHAT TO DO? Drives it home making loud noise AND oil and maintenance lights(idiot lights) are coming on. WAITS until the next day, TRYS to drive car AGAIN, starts clicking and shacking, won't drive. THEN calls dealer who tells them to have vehicle towed to dealer. Never once checked the oil. Gee, I wonder what the oil light means? Wait and then try driving car again? See second sentence.

So you had the oil changed in APRIL yet in JUNE there is a problem. Umm..if they did something wrong at the oil change it wouldn't have taken 2 months to discover the problem. But it gets better...
Car finally starts up but as he gets to our subdivision the car is now making a loud ticking noise and the oil and maintenance lights are coming on. HERE WE GO!!!!!
Next day we try to take the car in to Suzuki low and behold car won't drive starts clicking and shaking, result missed day of work for hubby and I both
- So you are having problems the oil and maintenance lights come on and you hear a loud ticking noise. So what do you do? You still try to drive the car. Ummm...how about checking the oil?
The Toyota dealership calls and tells us that engine was starving for oil and that we would have to pay $116.00 and $1075.00 to have it looked at and engine broke down.
- Gee who would have thought that the oil light on your dash means it needs oil.
Now understand Suzuki supposedly did our "FREE" oil change and they are not taking any responsiblity in the situation
- Let's review...You got the Oil Change in April, this problem happened in June. The car "died", you were able to get it restarted but the oil and maintenance lights came on. With the lights on and a ticking noise you still tried to drive the car. Sorry but in no way is Suzuki liable for the damage that was caused.
I have no idea what your car experience is, but at the very least if you learn one thing from this. The lights on your dashboard are there for a reason. If you ever have any of them come on again under NO circumstances should you ever try to drive(or even start) the car until you find out what that light means. I would highly suggest you familarize yourself with your owners manual as it will describe each light and the severity of the issue.
In taking a stab as to what happened. Most likely a leak developed so you were loosing oil. If this was a "catostrophic" leak that caused it to drain in a short time or a slow leak that took a few days/weeks is hard to say. If you noticed oil on the ground under your car over time it may have been a slow leak, and should have been an indication to you that there is a problem. Then the car dies at the Gas Station. Now at this point it is possible that you were at the borderline for any damage. Had you looked at the oil and realized it was low and NOT started or driven it you may have had no more damage than what ever caused the oil to leak. But as you continued to drive the engine was being damaged. When it go to the point of "ticking" you should have immediatly pulled over to minimize the damage that had occured. But to continue to drive it in that situation was just plain stupid, because you were running the engine with either very little or no oil at all.
