my wife and i gave up our bussiness to go over the road with all of the promises swift made;big money, good, newer equipment, lots of miles, school tuition payback, and much more.after three months with a junk truck which we spent most of the time in the shop(no miles,no pay),i complained so much they finally gave me another truck(not much better).i'm trying to make this brief, but i could write a book about the abuses and lies i received from this company.
the final straw was when they put out a memo telling drivers to cut down their idle time.i made a real effort to comply.we sat in truck stops(waiting for loads,as usual),out west with temperatures over 100 degrees with the engine off and windows down until we could not stand it anymore.we almost lost our dog from heat exhaustion.
so on several occasions we paid for idle-aire and motel rooms out of our own pocket.after three more months of suffering through this, but still making the loads,i did get,on time,i was called back into the home terminal (ocala florida).
upon arrival,i was called into my driver manager's office.he pulled out a clipboard and told me that iwas on the list of drivers that had idle time of over 40% and that i was terminated.i argued and told him how i went out of my way to comply but was fired anyhow.i cleaned out my truck and left.
upon returning home i put in 34 applications and was turned down on every one of them.before this i was never fired once.i even have awards for driving and safety.i was obviously blackballed.i am still unemployed and would like revenge on these idiots because they ruined our whole life.

Swift On DAC Means Screwed!!!
AUTHOR: TJW - (United States of America)

Totally agree with the scrapes comment above. My trainer, (Mentor) as Swift likes to call them, was right there when I scraped a trailer. He didn't even help. So, that was considered my first, of three, acc/inc while I was with Swift. The funny thing is: "My mentor NEVER helped me get the trailer dropped, but he helped a driver from another company drop his." So, after being terminated, Swift contacted DAC (HireRIght) and put those three lovely words, "Unsatisfactory Safety Record", on my DAC Report. Now, I'm in the same boat as you, unable to get hired by any Company.
HireRight won't even allow an independent person or group review the dispute you file. They ONLY allow the Company, which you filed the dispute with, to look at what you're disputing and make their own judgment as to whether anything should be removed from your DAC. But, of course, the Company isn't going to remove anything. They're the ones that put it on there. It's the best black-balling a Company can get away with, because there's no Rules or Regulations that allows for oversight of the DAC Reports. In other words, "When a Company puts on whatever they choose to, as long as it's considered and 'objective' view, you can't get it taken off. Because, the Company that you were fired from has sole discretion as to what will or will not come off." It's such cr*p.

I CONCUR!!!

Swift fired me right out of training after I repeatedly told many of my superiors that I was uncomfortable and needed more training they threw me into a truck by myself anyway and told me good luck! Then as soon as I have a minor scrape they throw it on my safety record, then they fire me making it virtually impossible to get hired anywhere!!! I don't know who I'm more mad at Swift or HireRight for even allowing them to report this crap on my DAC report! I personally know THREE truck drivers driving around right now today with stuff like rollovers and jack knives yet I have a scrape and bump and can't find a company that will hire me! This is BS!!!

Ugly story after ugly story.

These trucking companies that are doing these ugly things are as dishonest as the day is long
The thing that just baffles me is,how do you get so many people to lie for you, such as dispatchers,oh I'm sorry, driver managers, recruiters and right on up the ladder.I guess they feel if they don't lie they won't have a job.I often wonder when these people go home at night if little tommy asks, daddy what do you do for a living,do they tell them that I scew truck drivers all day long and tell them where to go,or do the lies continue and they say I just make sure trucks get to where they need to be.
As far as the Blackballing or Blacklisting, this practice is going to reach around and bite them right in the butt, and I think they are seeing the results of that already.
The one big thing these people that can be bought, ought to keep in mind, anything you make now your not taking with you,but any compassion you have shown will go with you.
I wish all nothing but the best and God Bless.

explaining the down time idling to class action
AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

The down time is when drivers are between loads... The trucks can be set to turn themselves on and off at certain temps. If the wheels aren't turning, the company expects the truck to be shut down and save the fuel. The air conditioning and heat require the truck to turn on. Hence "idle time". They expect their drivers to suffer heat stroke or hyperthermia while waiting for their next load. AND, at times, it could be days, especially in this economy. Lots of Swift drivers are fired nowadays. It's Swift's way of downsizing

Class Action
AUTHOR: Phuqued - (U.S.A.)

Hello,
I am or (was) about to enroll in a trucking school,
for which there are only so many provided by the
transport companies themselves.
But after reading all the negative remarks by many
I am reconsidering. Now that you have som much
idol time, I suggest using it to round up all victims
you can find and start a class action law suit.
Many lawyers will not collect their fee until after they
have collected your settlement and their fee will only
be a percentage of the settlement.
These companies will keep dong this to people as long
as people do nothing about it. But if you fight back
and hit them in the pocket book where it counts, they
might change their policy. As well you will be cleared
of the "black Ball" list and conmpensated for losses.
I am a bit confused though, having no knowlege of their
operations, tell me how can they fire you fordown time
if they are the cause of your down time? I dont get it.
You were waiting for a load, and got fired for that?
Or they cause you to wait so long that you then have
no remaining time for sleep the rest of the week?
