TCF will deduct your pending transactions so that once your transactions posts it will cause you to go negative. Then they post your pending transaction that has already been deducted and charge more negative fees. They will also hold your deposit so that you go negative.

Not Really

You wrote: TCF will deduct your pending transactions so that once your transactions posts it will cause you to go negative...
The reality is the bank has no control over when your transactions post. The transactions post when the merhant you bought items from decides to finally verify your transaction. This can take anywhere from 24-96 hours. Now once you swipe your debit card, the transaction is deducted from your actual balance, regardless of when the merchant approves the transaction; the remainder in your account is referred to as your available balance. If you've spent the money in your account and you've swiped the card....and the bank deducted the transaction so the available balance is then reflected.....I'm not certain how it's a ripoff.
You then wrote: Then they post your pending transaction that has already been deducted and charge more negative fees.
Not really. Depending on the bank and the account, if you're already negative and the transaction posts, the bank can and will charge a daily fee for every day you're negative. You don't get hit twice for the same transaction. Rather, the balance in your bank account is then deducted once the cash leaves. You can look at any bank statement to see your transactions have not been deducted twice. Otherwise, you would never be able to reconcile your account.
Finally, you wrote: They will also hold your deposit so that you go negative.
Unless you deposit cash, only the 1st $100 of your deposit is available immediately. The remainder of the deposit becomes available as early as the next day, unless the deposit is on a Friday...in which case the deposit becomes available on the next business day. This is a requirement under Federal Banking law.
Keeping an up-to-date register isn't enough. Keeping an accurate register is the objective. This means putting the next business day's date on your deposit because that's when it's going to post. You cannot race a deposit to the bank in the hope the deposit will offset what you spent in swiping your debit card. Once you accurately reflect transactions in your register, you won't incur another NSF fee.... Best of luck to you...

Checking balances constantly

I check my balances everytime before I swipe and after because of the issues I have had with TCF. In one instance I had a positive balance after the NSF fees were applied to my account. Oh I also do keep my check register up to date as well as an online register I use to balance my monthly budget but thanks for making the effort to ASSUME I don't handle my finances properly while be raped by TCF. GREAT JOB!!

What does your WRITTEN and RECORDED running balance show on the days the overdraft happened? I'll bet you don't keep such records and what you do is keep using the ATM card WITHOUT keeping records and you keep using the ATM card when you have absolutely ZERO knowledge of your balance!
