I have had such a bad time with this miserable company as a customer. I spent 5 hours picking out furniture to redo my whole living room and kitchen. In this time I had to fax paperwork to the store to be approved for their 24 months no payments no interest offer and they approved me for exactly that. that offer is called an x24 offer to the employees of that store. I signed all the paperwork stating I had 0 payments and 0 interest for 24 months, and took the area rugs I had selected to my car. I later received a call saying I wasn't approved for the x24 offer but the w24 which is 24 equal payments over 24 months with no interest. still a good deal but not what I wanted so I canceled the order completely and told them to write up the rugs on a new contract and I would pay cash for them. I didn't want to drive 50 minutes back to the store just to hand them their stuff back because they cant honor their contracts. Not only did they not honor their contract, they didn't cancel it either and went on to try to deliver the furniture to me when I wasn't home (according to "the dump" and my neighbors). Now "the dump" is sticking me with the bill for almost 6k worth of furniture that was supposed to be canceled, and trying to make me make payments on it when I was supposed to have no payments no interest in the first place... I never signed a delivery slip nor did I sign any agreement other than the one that I signed in the store for 0 payments 0 interest for 24 months. How did they get a new contract with me agreeing to buy these products from them on a totally different finance structure? Your guess is as good as mine but I can tell you it wasn't legally.. Avoid this store at all costs. They may have deals on furniture but you could end up like me getting bounced back and forth between the store the main office in Virginia, the finance company, the delivery company and the police trying to sort out a simple furniture sale... btw its been since 5/28/10 that this took place and it still isn't resolved. I have since reported them to the Arizona attorney general and the federal trade commission. the store in turn has filled charges against me for "stealing" said furniture "that i never took delivery of" because I haven't made a payment on their bogus contract. I will be sueing the sh*t out of them after I am cleared of this obviously ridiculous claim

salesman was honest with me - The Dump lies!

AUTHOR: deva - ()

POSTED: Sunday, July 06, 2014

I have been to The Dump a number of times over the past 3 months looking for the right livingroom furniture. The sales man admitted that the dump marks eveything up, way up and lets customers dicker them down in price.

He stated that the different sales promotions they run are deceptive, quickly changing price-tages the night before.

While I do like the different selection they have, I find this practice wrong.

The Dump can offer 24 months no interest, no payments, because The Dump is lending it's own money.  Laws have changed and financial organizaions, like Citibank, can no longer make those offers.

I don't even know where to start but her goes.  The Dump is a real company and it truly lives up to it's name.  I only worked for the company for a short time but literally 2 days in, I knew it wasn't going to be a permanent place for me.  I worked at the location in Houston, TX which is the corporate headquarters for The Dump.  Haynes Furniture out of Virginia owns The Dump and other furniture stores throughout various states. They are truly a bait and switch retailer.  Going into "training" for my position it was clear that the customer was always wrong and we were always right.  The terms and conditions were written in a manner that it is almost impossible to get a full refund of anything you purchased even when situations were beyond the customer's control.  I hated that I had to lie and tell these customer's "we" couldn't do anything for them day in and day out.  I even got in trouble on more than one occasion for "trying" to do the right thing for customers.  I was told we have to abide by the "terms and conditions".  I would always interject that every customer's situation isn't always that cut and dry. I was always met with opposition from management.  The director Chip St. John is unbelievably incompetent.  He never wants to help the customers and would tell us he only gets involved when it becomes "legal".  My thing was why would you want our customer's to SUE us before you get involved and do the right thing by the customer.  If its our fault make it right!  My concerns always fell on deaf ears.  Besides the ongoing issues with how they treat and cheat their customer's they also have a nasty rep for not paying their employees.  Throughout my short stay with this company I know of at least 5 instances were I was underpaid for my normal time and not paid at all when I worked over time.  When I would bring it to my managers attention it never got corrected.  I was even told by another co-worker that the laws for over-time pay are governed differently in the state of TX but my issue is does the law state you can work me over 40 and not pay me anything?  I beg to differ.  Nonetheless I became jaded to all these nonsense and prayerfully got another job with a very reputable company.  I'm all about doing what's best for my customer's and for people in general.  The Dump won't be around much longer doing the kind of business they do.  I encourage all of you who have been wronged by this company to report them to your states attorney's general office and contact a lawyer.  They need to be put in their place, which is out of business.

Are they advertising illegal financing?

AUTHOR: Scott - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, October 24, 2010

There may be some loopholes that The Dump knows of in order to get around this, but last year, the federal government enacted legislation that basically takes away the "no payment" option from no payment/no interest financing. Finance institutions are not allowed to offer the no payment option. Instead, they can offer a minimum payment option or equal payment option.

Again, I don't know if they have figured out a loophole, but I wouldn't be surprised if they switched you from the no payment/no interest finance option to the no interest/minimum payment option, after advertising the no/no financing (which I have heard in their radio advertising).

This may be something to bring up as you move forward with your suit.

It is the real store name! How would i know where the furniture is if i didnt take delivery of it?? they say it never came back to the warehouse, I don't have it at my house..... There's not to much more to the story. I threatened them with reporting their financing scam to the authorities and they turned around and reported me to negate my complaints, it worked for now. which is why I am going to win this case and then sue them for all attorneys fees from this case and the upcoming civil case I am bringing to them and also for civil fraud and my bill cleared. There are multiple sites I have posted on and other people have posted all sorts of crimes committed by this company such as not paying employees, them not honoring their warranties, delivering broken furniture and not taking it back for a suitable replacement, damaging peoples flooring etc. google "the dump scam" " the dump complaints" etc. 259 complaints so far with the bbb and they rate them f-.

WHY would ANYONE shop at a place called "the dump"?

WHY would anyone name a store "the dump"?

That's just plain stupid!

However, it appears that there is much more to this story. Too much drama for me.

"I'm sure the actual name of the store is not "the dump". You really should state the name of this furniture store. "

So Steve, how "sure" are you?   There couldn't possibly be a national chain of furniture stores called "The Dump", could there?   I'm sure a simple Google search or even putting a ".com" after the name of the store wouldn't turn up such a business.

Get off your high horse and do a tiny bit of research before making yourself look like a fool.
