Went to Thorobred Chevrolet In October 2006 to purchase a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab For my work, i was greeted by a friendly salesman by the name of daniel who was very helpful and knowledgeable of the trucks on his lot, i picked out a white crew cab ls with all power options and the 4.8 liter v8 motor.

I test drove the truck and decided to go forward in the purchasing process. The first set of numbers shown me to me were ridicilous 8000 dollars cash down and 700 dollars a month for 72 months! i told daniel these terms do not work and that i was aware of the 5000 dollar rebate on the truck. so i said i would put 1000 dollars down and use the rebate towards the purchase.

we finally agreed on numbers after talking to the sales manager Glenn Roberts a very arrogant austrailian gentlemen. Anyways i agreed on numbers of 517 a month with 1000 dollars down. After the initial paperwork was completed i was then bum rushed into the finance managers lair, the finance manager Nicholas Matteo at first seemed very nice and professional and even told me he was shopping on his computer to find me the best interest rate.

He told me that on an extended term finance plan which i quote "is a program we at the dealership use for payment concerned customers" my payments would be 509 a month with a "Loan Protection Plan" which i later find out consisted of warranties i didnt need gap coverage, and credit life insurance.

when i bought the truck i feel like i was under durress i was there for so long and didnt even read what i was signing i later found out when i looked at my paper work the next day that i payed over 37,000 dollars!!! for a truck that had a window sticker of just over 30,000 and included a 5000 dollar gm incentive.

when i tried to contact thorobred they seemed to blow me off. I filed complaints with the AG and with the BBB. I felt violated never go to thorobred chevrolet.

This isn't the dealer's fault

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

A contract to purchase a car is very simple to read. It has everything spelled out in black and white, how much you are paying for the car, what extras are being added, etc. You are required to initial by each box that displays dollar amounts. The amount you are paying for the car before finance charges is clearly stated on the contract.

So many people fall into the same trap. They are tired but excited about their new car, and forget to take the time to read the contract before signing. It's absolutely nobody's fault but your own. You're the one that should've asked the questions if you didn't understand something. And no, I don't sell cars or have any affiliation with an auto dealer. But I do buy cars, and have never had a complaint because I read everything first!
