When I picked up a rental car from Thrifty at Bradley International Airport, the bill included a Connecticut state tax rate of 9.35% when the state tax is 6.35%, so my bill was more than the quoted price. I mentioned this to the manager, and he said that the governor had recently raised the tax rate to 9.35%. Being a tourist from out of state, I didn't know what to say, and because I was in a hurry, I just took the car and left. The next day I found out that the tax rate is 6.35% in Connecticut, so the manager was obviously lying. When I returned the car, I tried to get the bill adjusted, and they refused. If Thrifty is doing this routinely (at Bradley and other airports in the US), then they are going to have massive legal problems with the tax authorities in various states.

Apparently you figured it was a better use of your time to complain and write incorrect reports about a company rather than actually do some legitmate research.
You see, you are correct that the State Sales Tax in CT is 6.35%. However, you amazingly missed that CT also adds a 3% Sales Tax to the rental of vehicles. Now, where I am from 6.35 + 3 = 9.35, or do they use different math where you are from?
Now, this tax is in ADDITION to any other taxes or fees that are added in by the various government agencies who figure a "tourist" is easy pickings for taxes.
If you want to verify what I said, just look at this link from the CT Government. You can also reference SN 96(11) the Motor Vehicle Rental Surcharge.

No, and before you ask I do not now or have I ever worked for this or any other rental car agency.
